I guess Scott Olsen, former Marine and two-time Iraq war veteran, is one of those lazy bums who doesn't want to work and just wants a hand-out from the government. What exactly did he risk his life in Iraq for?

  1. Scott works.
  2. Scott remembers Marines being the few, the proud, and the tip of the spearhead of our military forces - "from the halls of Montezuma to the shores of Tripoli and we fight for right and freedom..."
  3. We the Americans have a tradition of taking care of our own problems (though ugly at times) because we are gamblers and revolutionaries at heart - who would have cut away all of their roots and moved to a misty future on a new continent? There had to be tremendous faith, recklessness, naivete, idealism, or foolhardiness to believe that our OWN efforts WILL make us succeed because there was not much else that we could have counted on.
