I don't have consistent internet access, and I'm sure a lot of this has already been covered, but you could make this a lot easier for me by replying concisely to this thread. I live in Indiana. I intend to come to Wall Street as soon as I can find someone to sublease my room. I intend to spend the last of my meager savings on some winter camping gear and a bus ticket next week. I have some questions. Do I need to worry about food? I'm ineligible for food stamps in Indiana due to a minor drug conviction ten years ago. What is the law in NY? Food is provided at our local Occupy protests, but it seems like you've got A LOT of people to feed at Occupy Wall Street. Is there room for my tent, tarp, and sleeping bag? Do I need to keep my camping gear with me during the day to prevent it from being stolen? I've been homeless in NYC before and found this to be the case. Are there any essentials that I may not think of bringing? I'm only taking what I can carry in a backpack so I do mean essential. Have they been keeping those who are arrested in jail for a long time? What is the typical bail? I'm not sure I know anyone with enough money to bail me out, but I'm trying to set something up with my friends ahead of time.
Doog you are more than welcome and the hostility here is not from supporters or even people participating. These people are Trolls and have no positive input, just come we will take care of you. There is more love here than these Trolls can handle, you need not worry, just come.
I believe you. I will be there soon and our love and determination to do what is right will carry us through the winter months.
Food, will be there. In your honor Doog, I will send more. OccupyPhilly is allowing pitched tents for the time being. Just go to City Hall. There are also on and offsite bathrooms, a kitchen, and a shower made available 24/7.
They have plenty of food at Liberty Plaza.
You still can't have tents, only sleeping bags, don't know if that will change.
People arrested for simple disorderly persons offenses are released the next day but you have a prior conviction so I won't pretend to offer you legal advice. You can try this number and ask those questions this is the group helping OWS with free legal advice

I will call that number. Thank you.
Yea the tarps are allowed
Thanks. So, no tent. Can I wrap myself in a tarp? I've done that before...
Bring long underwear. I'm not even a New Yorker and can tell you that. ;-)
You are the problem. Fix yourself first. This is not a party?
Right, I am the problem and fixing myself is the number one priority. Part of how I do that is selfless service, and currently I see no greater service to my community, my country, and the world than participating in this protest.
Wrong! Be productive where you are. Protest where there is no protest. We have plenty of your type here.
Okay, so what I'm getting from this is that I am not welcome to participate, and I will be met with hostility from fellow protesters. My intention is to educate myself in NYC, help to maintain the occupation through the winter months, and assist in the organization of the national general assembly set for July 4th when I return to my community. I'm gathering that there must be an influx of people from out of town and that it might be causing some conflict with New York natives. This assumption is based on limited information coupled with life experience of similar phenomenon. Please, evaluate my assessment and tell me more about what is going on from your perspective.
I hope you do not let the trolls discourage you from heading out there.
Oh no, nothing's going to stop me. I was just trying to figure out where he was coming from.
Correct, your not needed here. You can serve best in the area you know best. If you really want to help, follow Obama on his fake tour for jobs. Protest his every move. If you can't do that then camp in front of his house or the capital. Viva the occupation.
