How many of you would support having intense pressure applied immediately and constantly on politicians and firms that have falsely claimed that they support the hiring of military veterans? As per the information found on the following web site for the Veterans on Wall Street military veteran hiring initiative and elsewhere, firms such as Bank of America, Blackrock, Credit Suisse, and JP Morgan have all claimed that they support the hiring of veterans:

However, after having previously held and exceptionally performed relevant positions in I.T. in New York and in Asia at Goldman Sachs, Credit Suisse, Hewlett Packard, and Lehman Brothers prior to and after my service in the U.S. Navy, during which I was issued a top-secret security clearance and received a 92% score on the ASVAB, all of the following firms refused to fairly consider me for relevant positions that have been available during the last 3 years: Goldman Sachs, Citigroup, Jefferies, SAC Capital, Guggenheim Partners, Perella Weinberg, Citigroup, UBS, Wells Fargo, HSBC, Nomura, RBC Capital Markets, AIG, Hess Corporation, Cushman & Wakefield, Daiwa, Hewlett Packard, Barclay's, Brown Brothers Harriman, State Street, Bank of Montreal/Harris Bank, and RBS. In particular, a recruiter working with Bank of America advised me following an interview that went well with that bank that I was passed over because it felt I was overqualified for a 2-month project. JP Morgan and Credit Suisse refused to allow me to be inteviewed for positions that were nearly identical to those I had held or had been offered by their firms previously. Also, after having received the following reply from a member of Blackrock's Human Resources team following 6 interviews I had with them, she recently advised me that her firm would not even allow me to volunteer there on an unpaid basis in order to keep my skills sharp:

Our desk side openings have been put on hold at this time due to everything going on in the markets. I will let you know if anything changes.

Thank you for your interest in BlackRock.

I was wondering if Jim is any closer to making a hiring decision. Also, after listening to a speech by Obama today, the following proposal he put forth would provide your firm with extra incentive for hiring someone like me, since I served in the Navy and am not currently working:

-- Returning Heroes and Wounded Warrior Tax Credits: A new Returning Heroes Tax Credit for firms that hire unemployed veterans (maximum credit of $2,400 for every short-term unemployed hire and $4,800 for every long-term unemployed hire).

Regards

As far as the Bank of Montreal/Harris Bank is concerned, the managers that interviewed me showed how committed they really were to giving serious consideration to a military veteran by each taking back-to-back 2-week vacations immediately after my interview.
