Forum Post: Rev Fred Shuttlesworth RIP

Nothing against Steve Jobs, but it is unfortunate that due to his celebrity status, Jobs' demise obscured notice of the passing of Rev. Fred Shuttlesworth. Shuttlesworth created no miraculous technological gadgets but he was a tireless and incredibly courageous fighter for social justice for decades, preceding and then working alongside ML King, Jr. Georgia Rep. John Lewis stated yesterday, “He was the soul and heart of the Birmingham movement. Fred Shuttlesworth had the vision, the determination never to give up, never to give in. He led an unbelievable children’s crusade. It was the children who faced dogs, fire hoses, police billy clubs that moved and shook the nation.”
