It has long been somewhat of an urban legend that the CIA helped to ship drugs to the US, but despite the media's attempt to downplay the and bury the story investigative research has shown that it is true. The CIA did help ship drugs to the U.S. in the 80s:

Furthermore, Gary Webb, the fearless investigative journalist who broke the story, was found dead in 2004 with TWO gun shot wounds to the head was ruled a suicide?
