Grover Norquist is realizing his goal -- i.e. to shrink government to the size where it could be drowned in a bathtub.
Examine the facts:
The George W. Bush tax cuts have reduced our federal treasury by an estimated $2.5 trillion.
On the expenditure side, the costs of the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq will likely total more than $2.5 trillion.
What is the response of the Republican-led House of Representatives to a $5 trillion budget hole?
Play games with the debt ceiling, and refuse to raise any taxes to offset the costs of wars that they themselves approved. Cut medical research, cut social safety net programs for the poor and weak, cut air traffic controllers, cut food safety inspection programs, cut, cut, cut. Future generations will rue the day that these folks were elected to represent us.
