Cut it out. Quality, not quantity. Admins! Can you do anything about it? I wouldn't normally mind, but the increase in traffic on this site warrants a more efficient forum.
One simple solution is to have separate categories for longer original posts as opposed to the Forum which often is for shorter comments. For example, some other categories: Theory, Practice, Organization, etc.
You can also hide the comments and only open them if you wish. Not sure there is other solution. Censorship is bad. Taking the time to edit is time consuming in any case.
Another forum at the resistance network http://www.occupyr.com/
This is the problem. People like complaining more than they like to try doing something about it. We've built a new forum to address the issues lots of people are complaining about, but nothing will change if people don't make an effort to get it off the ground.
haha! Define hypocrisy. But in all seriousness, you'e right about this. right now this forum is about people voicing their opinions on a huge variety of matters, or venting, or trolling. people need to be able to talk constructively to the group they want without sifting through trolling tea-partiers or conspiracy propagandists. i think this could all be solved with a little organization, im sure its already in the works though You have my email if you want help MODS!
The problem with the forum now though, is that unless a post gets lots of views really really fast, It gets buried within an hour.
So help get the new one rolling.
I'm keeping it open in my tab right now. Once I'm done with my paper, I'll register.
Thanks :)
A bunch of us got together and started http://www.TheMultitude.org since this forum got too chaotic to be very useful. Whoever can help get things rolling there might contribute to solving this problem.
Cutting posts ends debate! Ends free speech! Please keep it the way it is.
cutting identical posts isn't an infringement on your constitutional rights. its spambusting
One post per thread isn't spam. Also, I do vote yea or nay, sometimes with additional commentary, on whatever the original poster said. I just think it's very important for to FOCUS on the only STRATEGY that will satisfy all their demands -- fighting bankers as bankers ourselves at $500 apiece. Do that, and Wall Street will quickly tip it's King of Greed.
i have to say though; i am a fan of the tally sytem
A topic-rating system, simple up- and down-votes, would help immensely. Display the tally in the main topic listing, green/blue for positive, gray or red for negative.
the power hungry side of me wishes it could be a mod here
Have you seen the posts about how everyone must have 115K salary and a house and so on? People are going to post random stuff as soon as you open up an internet message board. people like me :)
