Forum Post: Regulate opportunists - the rest will fall into place

Assume greed; it will always be there, no matter what the system - communist, capitalist, you name it; some people just have it in their nature that enough is never enough, or they are on power trips. Either way, if they get in power, they cause suffering for large numbers of people.

The Germans finally got it right after WWII: they designed a new government based on the US Constitution, but after their experiences of the preceding 30 years ensured that theirs would protect EVERYONE, not just SOME people. (the creators of the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution were a very wealthy elite in a different era - we are still living with the Constitution they designed (plus amendments since then).

The 99% need to keep the pressure up to get Congress to sit up and take notice to fix the two biggest drains on the country's collective well-being: stop exporting jobs overseas and further regulate the banking/ mortgage industry to ensure that another 2008 meltdown doesn't happen. The banks and stocks market were basically without rules until the 1929 crash forced regulation for the public's protection. Let's do it again!
