we all know that right now our current system of electing officials is broken and that we need to break the 2 party stranglehold of the american political system.

i've seen a variety of grand sweeping and major change ideas, some aren't to bad others highly impractical at best. but none of them are solutions that would actually go very far, in practice, of making our government more representational.

ranked voting will.

currently we have a system where voters frequently do not vote for someone, but vote against another candidate. i.e. 'i don't really like gore but i sure don't want bush, and nader would be throwing my vote away.' this was a common sentiment during bush's first run for president. and stolen election concerns aside ranked voting would have cured this problem entirely.

with ranked voting we are able to vote for who we believe in without the fear that a split vote will saddle us with a candidate we feel is detrimental to the well being of america.

ranked voting lessens the impact of massive financial corporate backing of candidates. and in the long run it will destroy the two party system.

ranked voting is the most democratic of all voting systems created, and it is one of the simplest changes to enact that will have one of the largest and long lasting effects on the future of america.

Yes. Thank you for this. We should work to bring Instant Runoff Voting, also known as Ranked Choice Voting, to our single-winner elections. At the same time, we should change our legislatures to be multi-seat offices elected with the Single Transferable Vote, a ranked system of proportional representation.
