"Over the past ten days, more than a dozen cities have moved to evict 'Occupy' protesters from city parks and other public spaces. As was the case in last night’s move in New York City, each of the police actions shares a number of characteristics. And according to one Justice official, each of those actions was coordinated with help from Homeland Security, the FBI and other federal police agencies.
The official, who spoke on background to me late Monday evening, said that while local police agencies had received tactical and planning advice from national agencies, the ultimate decision on how each jurisdiction handles the Occupy protests ultimately rests with local law enforcement.
According to this official, in several recent conference calls and briefings, local police agencies were advised to seek a legal reason to evict residents of tent cities, focusing on zoning laws and existing curfew rules. Agencies were also advised to demonstrate a massive show of police force, including large numbers in riot gear. In particular, the FBI reportedly advised on press relations, with one presentation suggesting that any moves to evict protesters be coordinated for a time when the press was the least likely to be present."
Recently there was a series of riots in Britain, mostly in poor areas with 70% unemployment. Agent provocateurs entered into the crowds and diverted it to some arson and looting. Bulk of the crowd only had blocked the streets and had scared the police out. All the world believed it was a looting riot for gadgets, because only those scenes were shown on the world media. Also police started to mobilise some "ex-hooligan (hoodlums) associations" (in Britain ex-hooligans have associations). Already the crowd had lost steam but in the final day government announced deployment of 26000 policemen (three divisions!). In another incident students arranged a protest day against increase of tuition fees (tripled). British government spends for recent foreign adventures and for bail-out of bankers and executive bonuses and have not money for spending in the universities, and advanced researches are dying; therefore students should pay for it. As the protest had been arranged during the study week of students when students were busy writing essays and course works turn-out was low and five thousand students came out. Number of police deployed was 4000 (student could catch infiltration of four agent provocateur on the camera that I saw on YouTube). That is for each student almost one police. This has given the idea to the establishment that a heavy hand police presence will kill OWS in a similar fashion. OWS is the path to a solution for a problem that cannot be solved by traditional intervention of traditional administration of politics. It emerges in some other way.
Your comments strengthen my resolve. Personally, I think you should put this on its own post so more people might see it.
