Boy, for a group of people that is so outspoken against oppression, and censorship, and suppression of FREE SPEECH, the moderators of this site are very quick to remove anything that might slightly contradict their bumper sticker slogans and emotional rants.

Make a cogent argument and don't troll and you are fine.

If you cared about free speech yourself you would not even bother caring about what we say.

As I pointed out before, right wing websites will ban liberals in an instant.

This Movement started out of financial policies that let big corporations run each other into the ground and ask for a 700 Billion $ bailout and then give each other bonuses. Now to you or me it seems like that would be pretty bad practice to give someone a bonus when they have well F*&ked up so bad the heart beat of our whole planet briefly stopped. Well to everyone in the Financial world this makes perfect sense bonuses help keep companies "competitive" Bonuses ensure that your top "Talent" doesn't leave to an overseas competitor. Wall street refuses to acknowledge that for the last 30 years or so a small but terribly corrupt few have exploited any and all they could, Madoff comes to mind of this ilk. I say the onus is on YOU wall street those of you privy to such information expose these greedy pricks. Do not let the issue get confused WE don't want your blood money take your worthless PAPER and wipe your rich ass with it. I would love to see towns and cities and states make their own money backed by a reserve of gold or silver. Do it amongst yourselves any who read this I must stress WE can make change happen by working together. Everyone says this but then they don't explain how you can make a difference. TRADE yes I Know! So radical but if we start to view that worthless paper for what it is We can begin to free ourselves of our dependence on it. I say learn to make things trade your skill to your neighbor for other things that you may need. People this is important cause the government cannot tax you based on your blood, sweat and tears or on the precious metal you trade. To the government let them have ALL the worthless paper they want reduce your dependence on cash or credit these are only tools to get you into more and more debt. At the end of the day it falls to us to stop giving them every advantage.

I say again in closing that there must be some among those dirty greedy bastards who are chafing under the rule of such tyrants. To you I say now is your last chance you could be the among the Great names written in history by exposing some documents whatever it is you can . I can say us other 99% of people would hail you a Hero.

Your words: "For a GROUP of people that value blah blah blah, THE MODERATORS blah blah blah."

Think about what you're saying. OWS doesn't have much of anything to do with this forum.

Are you sure about that? Or does it just disappear due to inactivity.

Sweetened sweat pudding of the starting line up of the NBA and NFL.

Claret of Oprah Winfrey tears with a dash of Barbra Streisand acid reflux to spice it uo.

Chef Smith is working on his next offerings of Crony Capitalists such as Jeffrey Immelt, CEO of GE and any Goldman Sachs carbon traders he can get his hands on....the list is endless

I'm not so sure it's being censored so much as the forum isn't that good. I have had all sorts of issues from posts not showing to not being able to load messages. It's more the system then the mods, I think.

Additionally, FREE SPEECH is a constitutional right between an American citizen and the government. The amendment protects the citizen from reprisals of the government -- not private citizens or private forums.

So, theoretically, one can support the constitutionally protected free speech while also censoring a private forum -- with a completely clean conscious.

People need better information on their Constitutional rights.

and freedom of the press which the public internet should be [protected

[-] 1 points by gtyper (477) from San Antonio, TX 13 years ago

It's freedom from government reprisals due to speech - press or person.

I agree the public internet should fall under this and does. But private establishments and their desires are free from the bounds of the constitution.

For instance, I cannot walk around a local golf course pontificating about how wonderful it is to not be affronted by so many "niggers". The course can and will insist I leave - as is their right.

I do understand my Constitutional Rights. And I do understand the difference between private and public. I would just think that a group of private citizens, supposedly fighting for "the voice of the little guy" would want to set an example of allowing ALL SPEECH, whether they agree or not. Wouldn't you agree?

[-] 1 points by gtyper (477) from San Antonio, TX 13 years ago

No, I would not.

I would argue that counter-productive and divisive talk should be banned immediately. I'm not talking about people that advocate a differing viewpoint or are anti-OWS-movement -- but the people that have no intention of having discourse or intelligent discussion. This adds nothing to the movement.

There are people that are not here to educate or be educated, but wish to simply insult and troll. These should be weeded out from the forum and quashed.

Constructive conversation and intelligent ideas should be welcomed from all political ideologies and from all walks of life. Censorship based simply on views should not be tolerated.

Why are there so many loons and right wing trolls on here if they are censored

[-] 1 points by kestrel (274) 13 years ago

"Lord of the Flies" rears its ugly head... who would have thought?

[-] 1 points by PandoraK (1678) 13 years ago

Excuse me, I get a 403 from about 20% of the posts it doesn't seem to matter if it's a view request or a reply request. I do believe I have read that these pages are not moderated so there fore the assumption that negative or alternate views are forbidden is most likely a fallacious one.

I just read a few moments ago a posting about work arounds for the 403 messages, so I suggest you look for it, as it may hold the solution for your issues.
