No, not lists of demands. Statement about what Occupy is NOT ABOUT:
Hate Racism War Crime Totalitarianism
I understand that a big long unified statement about the finer points of goals/demands may not be quite ready. But the ugliness being used to discredit this movement is happening right now and needs to be called out for what it is, publicly, loudly, to the point. Pretty sure everyone can agree on all the above--- submit it at GA’s, reach consensus, draft it, and put it out there ASAP.
Who are our official mouthpieces? Not "leaders" necessarily, but who is engaging the most with the press? Who has connections to high-profile allies of ours-- public figures whom most of can agree best represent where we stand? Whether we need "leaders" may be debatable, but we need mouthpieces.
Quite simply, I would say that it is about frustration with the current system of government and economy.
Again-- the macro issue. And it's vague. I'm not talking about that. That's the same old "list of demands", "what's our focus?" debate. I'm talking about making it clear to the public that we're not fucking Nazis.
I'm not quite sure I understand what you're looking for, then.
See my post above. It's not a question. It's a statement to the public about what Occupy ISN'T: Hate, racism, war, crime, totalitarianism.
We may not know 110% what we are, but hopefully we know what we aren't, and the public at large needs to hear it.
I agree with what you are stating that the movement is not. However, it is more positive to state what something actually is. I support what you are saying, though. I would add that it is not about class warfare but ending the class warfare that is already in place.
There's a time to be positive and think about what is ---and it's extremely necessary all along the way, I totally agree--- but when you're faced with a bombardment of negativity, you've got to make it a top priority to counter it. Even if that means momentarily having to focus on the negative for a bit, only for the purpose of stopping it. Otherwise, I agree with you.
Fair enough. I am not arguing with you.
Cannot disagree.
1.Take citizenship away from corporations.
you're talking about the macro issue, and it's important, yes, but right now there's a more immediate public relations problem brewing and that's what has to be dealt with first.
Ending corporate control of the American:
... and returning control of America back to the people.
"... of the people, by the people and for the people ..."
