Resolution to Elect An Executive Committee

WHEREAS, the goals and proposed reforms of the Occupy Wall Street movement are vital to the survival of the United States as a Republican Democracy; and

WHEREAS, we, the 99% and supporters of the Occupy Wall Street movement believe that some minimal, but formal, organization is required to effectively convey the Occupy Wall Street message,

BE IT RESOLVED that on October 15, 2011, the General Assembly of the New York City Occupy Wall Street movement shall vote upon whether an Executive Committee of at least 11 members should be elected to:

·Handle the day-to-day problems that arise during the ongoing protests in New York City such as obtaining permits to contract for the use of portable public toilets, potable water, sanitation and medical services.

·Oversee the transparent expenditure of any funds raised by the Occupy Wall Street movement.

·Liaise with the City of New York and New York City Police Department to avoid miscommunication and potential violence.

·Mobilize and lead supporters, all over the United States, to organize local elections of 870 delegates to a National General Assembly to convene on July 4, 2012 in the city of Philadelphia.

·Make arrangements to organize a vote of the 870 delegate to a National General Assembly and secure a legal and adequate venue in Philadelphia for the National General Assembly to meet and deliberate to draft a petition of grievances representing the views of the 99 percent.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that should the New York City General Assembly approve the establishment of an Executive Committee, the General Assembly shall immediately move to take nominations and vote for no less than 11 members to sit on an Executive Committee which shall call upon all other Occupy Wall Street General Assemblies in other cities to elect its own Executive Committee to act as Committees of Correspondence as the People did 235 years ago.
