Part of the reason why the arab spring was so successful was because the army joined the people. If we could get just some NYPD officers to march with us it would bring the movement to a whole other level.. It's essential we don't treat them as the enemy for they only innocently following orders. so 2 things

  1. Get in contact with the police union and try our very best to negotiate some march or event with them (We necessarily don't have to agree on the topic, just get them with us will make great news.) I know plenty of cops would be happy to join us, they just can't cause they'll lose their job.

  2. (This might sound silly but it worked in spain) When confronted with cops at a march. Before things start to escalate, and cops get ready to go crazy on us, everyone on the front line whoop out a rose or some flowers and hand them to the officers. (This doesn't have to be only at a march it could be whenever)

This is a great point. Regarding the Tahrir protests, that girl Gigi that became a big voice during the protests was actually trained at an American sponsored university on how to organize. Embracing the police and military was one of the most important things mentioned and definitely benefited the protesters.

True. You cannot judge a group based on an individual. It's just nonsense. Cops have been treated unfairly as well.

You're fucking stupid. NYPD do their job. Who protected you all during 9/11. You're Welcome.

Why would the cops want to work with people who are deficating on sidwalks and acting like adolescents.

How about donating some of the 300K to the NYPD?? Even 10K would seem like a worthy investment. It would also make for good publicity for the movement, which may engender more donations from people that are currently afraid to support OWS, not knowing what it might turn into.

the case needs to be made to them that what they are doing goes AGAINST ethics and morality and truth and that they are the 99 percent and thus should be on our side. The case needs to be made to them that being evil storm troopers is not what they signed on for. The case needs to be made ot them that they are breaking their oaths to serve and protect and are instead being used to control and perpetuate caste wars.

In Portugal during the gloriously successful Revolution of 1974, pretty girls would actually slip carnations down the barrels of the soldiers' guns... The poor devils were so shocked they were unable to bring themselves to shoot! The revolution was virtually bloodless and became known as the "Carnation Revolution". I remember watching it on TV with chills running down my spine.

I may be mistaken - historians, please correct me - but I believe that was the very first in a long series of nonviolent revolutions.. our own OWS Revolution being the most recent one.

Exactly. Something like that would be beautiful. i think nonviolence is key because we still don't have the whole 99% on our side.
