Here is a hypothetical scenario:
What if we demonstrate the magnitude of the movement by organizing a date to withdraw all money and begin withholding all bill payments from a specific bank. Say, Bank of America: one of the biggest culprits in the recent economic swindles. If enough individuals and businesses cut off their cash flow, we could suffocate them, and they would not have enough employees or lawyers in the world to be able to go after us all.
If someone with figures available could just crunch the numbers to see how many people would have to participate to be able to give them a blood clot, if you will, we could organize it, set a date, give the government an ultimatum to withdraw their bailout money, and if they don't, send BoA (non-violently) on their way to a massive heart failure.
If we show the world that the usurious credit structure looming over our economy can be shaken, perhaps we can convince them to eventually buck it entirely.
Why should my savings account (essentially a loan to the bank) earn less than 1% per year when that same bank invests that money on a daily basis for a much greater return, and then will turn around and offer me a credit line with 28% APR? What madness made everyone accept this? Even 15% is insane. All over a mathematical gamble as to whether you will ever pay enough of it back for them to turn a huge profit: not that it matters much, because they can absorb the cost of defaulters, as long as the rest are doing their civic duty by paying on time: which is what we could have a potential to halt, if we got organized. They have been siphoning off our money, and its time to cut the gas line.
Absolutely- an econommic flex strike fits perfectly in this situation.
Whether we posess the organization to accomplish that remains to be seen.
See my comment on joining not for profit credit unions that I just posted. If every American who was sick of these big banks joined a credit union, we would solidify our power as the 99% without brining the banking system to a standstill.
