It's a pretty straightforward idea, but I have been surprised with how people tell me they had never though of it.
Essentially we get our self governance system worked out, and that means thoroughly documented and tested and finding solutions for the kinks.
Then we grow this decision-making and group-discussion body. It would probably have to be modified as we go along, but eventually each city or each neighborhood could have it's own governing bodies. When they reach the majority of the population, or ideally the supermajority, then we march on city hall and demand it back. Since you have the authority of the people they cannot legitimately say no.
Then the city halls can work together to solve the state and federal governments.
the current system is irreconcilable. alternative government is the only solution. The problem is that a single nation-state of 300 million people is too large to be democratic, which is exactly why it is so large. We need as many autonomous regions as there are regions in the world. they will do anything they can to stop this, but we must be willing to fight them.
Sounds very 60's. aka Hippy Commune
It sounds like the model employed by the Mennonites. Buy some land and establish your community, if and when it grows large enough get more land, separate into two groups and repeat. Has a better chance of success then trying to convince a majority of people to make a radical change from what they are used to.
exactly ... ;) sounds pretty grassroots to me ... which is the only thing that works
Unfortunately not really possible. A change is quite simple. Don't vote for Republicans and Democrats but vote for any other party. Then you will get a new government.
