PepperBall products include a full line of system launchers and projectiles for a variety of less-lethal applications.

The guns shoot large pods filled with pepper spray-type powder.

A good antidote for pepper ball exposure is actually human feces. readily available on a sidewalk or behind a tree near you. simply smear it on your upper body and face to eliminate the burning sensation.

If that doesn't work start shouting "Hope Change Hope Change" until Obama farts out a rainbow that wraps around the globe making everyone feel better.

Just to be clear. peaceful assembly does not equal forceful occupation. We are forcefully occupying. Not that we should stop, but we should stop whining about how they have to handle our lawbreaking. And just do it, just occupy and be prepared to be arrested. Be prepared to take a rubber bullet. Be prepared to get the pepper gas.

They make a wipe that removes the spray if you get it on you.

well usually it deteriorates into cries of police brutality so I was pre-empting. We must expect it.

Uhhm I don't see any whining in this thread... unless your post constitutes whining about the topic?

Thank you for the info about the wipe antidote, a link would be great, or a recipe to make such a thing. May I assume it involves Maalox or another neutralizing base?

Just remember its going to hurt like a mo-fo, you'll be snotting and crying and wondering how in the hell your body can ever produce that much mucous. But it wont kill you and you can even work through it.

I've been sprayed with the stuff a few times. Never a direct hit. I think it's actually good for allergies in small doses. In Arcata in the 90s the cops swabbed environmental protestors' eyes with pepper spray: http://www.nopepperspray.org/factsheet.htm

The best advice I received was "don't touch the affected area".

Stuff like this will only make it more interesting to protest.

It's worth noting that TRPV1, the receptor for capsaicin (the active ingredient of pepper spray) is affected by a number of known antagonists in drug development. Merely prolonged exposure to capsaicin may reduce its activity. (these drugs cause dangerous hyperthermia when taken internally, but if only the eyes and certain areas of skin are the target, perhaps that doesn't apply) So it is certainly theoretically possible for protesters to render themselves immune to pepper spray. It might be possible that something as simple as eating food spiced with peppers earlier in the day, or cold temperatures, would marginally reduce its effectiveness.

See http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/TRPV1 http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/books/NBK5260/

Possibly the essential oil of Zinziber zerumbet would have a beneficial effect. See http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/21664960

Apparently cannabis and cannabinoids are somewhat effective... http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/21584737 Now that's an indication for medical marijuana which I wonder if even the California doctors have heard of yet. ;)

On the other hand I should note that there are also compounds identified in that research which would make pepper spray even worse, i.e. MRS1477 which was identified as an allosteric enhancer of capsaicin's effect. http://jpet.aspetjournals.org/content/early/2011/10/17/jpet.111.183053.long This was known in 2008 ... I have no idea if anyone is using it. Also resiniferatoxin is several thousand times more potent than capsaicin.

And your point is....?

What would you prefer to be repelled with? 40mm machine guns? Tanks? Flame throwers?

What a stupid question.

When did you stop beating your wife?
