A suggestion to the occupiers. Individual signs are great showing a variety of ideas in clever and individualistic ways. They are, however, hard to project being only visible for a few yards. I suggest creating a series of two sided basis signs each having a letter of the alphabet the size of posters board on each side. The whole alphabet can be covered with 13 such signs and multiple sets would be needed; more vowel sets would be needed than consonants. An example would be B/C;D/F;G/H;J/K. The vowels would be on their own signs A/E;I/O;U/Y. Some signs will be blank for spaces between the words. A short message is then divided among a group of people. If the message is, “Corporations are not people and money is not speech” the signs can be so organized and using 2 signs per person, 26 people walk in a line with 26 signs projecting the first half of the message. When half of the message has been scrolled, the person in position one goes behind the line and flips to the second sign they are carrying as do those behind him or her and proceeds to the front of the line showing letter 27 of 51, and so on. It will be a human scroll that should be readable from a long way off and any number of messages can be constructed limited only by the number of working sets of alphabets and the number of people involved. This technique will require organization and planning, both of which are in abundant supply in these occupations. It should be a visually impressive way to get messages seen from a distance and add a nice touch of theater.
