On a large majority the media believes we are disorganized, that we are drug addicts and sex crazed hippies gathering in a park to block traffic and have a party. They aim to make these beliefs mainstream and disestablish the movement because they are afraid of the change they know is somewhere beyond this mountain we are climbing. And that, my friends... MY FAMILY, is just it. This isn't going to happen quickly. CHANGE will not come quickly. It will take time, it will take peace and more so... it will take unity and appreciation.
This is the awakening of a global consciousness, the freeing of our spirits, and the setting of equilibrium between mankind and life; It is about bringing down big corporations that mercilessly take money from us and give nothing back; this is about a government that lies to us and is corrupt enough to be "for hire"; this is about the abuse suffered from racism and judgement; this is about having to forget your dreams to just make a living; this is about power trips and unjust treatment from those set to protect us; this is about becoming in debt to just get an education; this is about being kicked out of a home because the prices are too high to live there; this is about the abundance of unused homes that we cannot live in and just stand idle; this is about being to poor to afford proper health insurance; this is about setting the same benefits for those that enter this country for those that have lived here; this is about good teachers that have to live in fear of losing their jobs or their tenure; this is about those that stand up and are silenced; this is about the dying environment, the polluted water, the unneeded slaughtering and misuse of animals; this is about finding more greener approaches and more so this is about our future and the future of those that come after us. This is for a REASON and because of that WE MUST STICK TOGETHER and we must triumph. We MUST do it in peace.
A couple days ago, while at Occupy Wall Street a man came by telling us that he appreciated what we were doing but that it was pointless, and that the only true way to make change was to become violent. To kidnap Wall Street's kids. To fight the cops. He said that we needed to make fire. We will hear things like this every day, and we will constantly be tested. At times we will want to become violent because we do not know when the change will take place, and we will become unsure if this will survive... but I assure you, there are ways to keep it alive. It starts with realizing that we are creating fire. WE ARE creating change. Every time a new occupation sets itself up, that is the contagiousness of our hope, and our voices. that is the result of out OUR LOVE and OUR DEDICATION. We are a fire of the best kind, my brothers and sisters. We are the fire that no water can put out. We are peaceful, and in being so any attack and any abuse that we get is something that makes us stronger, because others are watching and others are listening.... which coaxes people out that never would have rose otherwise to become part of our voice and our movement. I made a sign a few days ago that I feel sums up our fire the best. It said "This is not just political, and this is not just corporate, this is spiritual and that is why it cannot be killed". As a collective spirit, we will live long past our bodies and or ideas and ideals will be echoed throughout time. So fight back by not allowing them to break you and not allowing them to make you violent.
