In 1962 President Kennedy challenged American Youth to be fit enough to walk 20 miles. Boy Scout Troop 35 (Baltimore) took the challenge and doubled it. Every year since then the Troop stages a 40 mile walk in one day. Kids younger than 10 years old have finished this walk. It's a big commitment but its a great opportunity to think about purpose and feel the gratification of every step taking you closer to your goal. My point is not to say how awesome my Boy Scout Troop was, which it was, but to suggest an alternative to the current form of protesting. How about a walk form NYC to DC. This is a long way, definitely more than 40 miles, but it is also a long way to grow the movement, build community, distill clear demands and show the world the commitment to the cause and the recognition that DC is where the change starts. Big businesses have figured that out and have devoted extensive financial resources to lobbying in that city. I think in 1965 a guy named Martin Luther King led a march that many people still talk about today for its boldness and effectiveness. When history judges the occupy movement, will it be remembered as a bunch of angry citizens who occupied business districts across the country indulging in a multitude of unproductive activities that don't make participants look any more employable, while impairing the life blood of commerce that creates jobs in the USA or a movement that had a mission, sang with a unified voice and made a big statement to the people who actually have the power to change the system? 2cents McGee

Looks like it is already happening. I am clearly not up on the latest.

ikki5 you're being a little negative about this, it isn't mandatory for everyone to walk, just those who are serious. there were people in wheel chairs in big marches before. where there is a will there is a way!

Yeah, I was about to make a comment that it's already happening. Looks like you found that out after your original post, eh? Well, like they say, better late than never. ;-)
