and will result in widespread division. Focus ONLY on what removes the corruption from our system of governance and we will gain even more support. Even the most obtuse of the American citizenry understand that our gov't no longer governs for the people.

1) Demand the re-instatement of Glass Steagall http://www.investopedia.com/articles/03/071603.asp#axzz1aNt9poQm 2) Demand a constitutional amendment to forever remove the lie that $$ = free speech, reverse Citizen United 3) Demand the restoration of the Fairness Doctrine http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fairness_Doctrine 4) Demand Campaign finance reform. Make political contributions the venue of the individual only. Remove all PACS or bundled money or candidate advocacy. Raise the limit on what an individual can contribute to 10% of the average annual wage for Americans and then cap ALL CONTRIBUTIONS for any political campaign or group at double that amount for ANY campaign year (i.e. no individual can spend more than 20K on ALL political campaigns they support. This will remove the inequity of the wealthy contributing millions by just sending the max to many campaigns).
5) Demand that gov't agency employees and all elected officials be prohibited from entering the employment of ANY PRIVATE SECTOR business or lobbying agency for which their agency or their votes had ANY connection for no less than 5 years. If you worked for FDIC, you don't get a bank job. If you work in inspecting drilling rigs, you don't get to go to work for the oil companies. This will solve much of the corruption that now exists in the mid levels of our gov't 6) Demand the immediate break up of the banks labeled as "too big to fail". It is ridiculous to allow our economic fate to remain in the hands of large globalized financial institutions that have not the least regard for the survival of your countries economy. It is traitorous that our gov't (or any gov't) has allowed this to happen. 7) Demand that no elected official be allowed to accept gifts, financial or non financial from ANY PARTY and make it punishable by jail time. That includes trips to Tahiti on the corporate jet or corporate sponsored seminars at exotic resorts. It should also include FUND RAISERS which our politicians seem to adore. Make the elected official for holding his OWN fund raisers instead of some deep pocketed monied interest.

It's a start...and I believe it would go far in removing the corruption that has basically destroyed common sense governance in the U.S. If OWS focuses only on this, then good governance for a prosperous citizenry can emerge.

Your single, inclusive issue turned into a list of 7 demands.

we can do nothing if we don't remove the influence and sway of $$ in our political system. Nothing. I'm not the only one who was amazed for years at the corrupt legislation coming out of Washington no matter how loudly we protested. The $$ controlling our political system and politicians, regardless of political persuasion, are the barrier. We should focus on removing the corruption... in that way, honest governance can sort out the details.
