Forum Post: OWS & the homeless - a question...

I have a friend who is in an argument with a OWS opponent and is looking for some backing to his argument... The opponent is stating that homeless people are being turned away from OWS and not given food , while I've heard the opposite. Can anyone elaborate?
Thank you, sincerely.

I can tell you first hand anyone who goes up to the kitchen area is served food with absolutely no exceptions. I can't offer you anything other my word (a random person you don't know off the internet) because we haven't really taken the trouble of documenting the of feeding homeless people to my knowledge. There was no reason to because this is the first I have heard of the rumor.

Ironically, one of the criticisms being spread about us is that we were attracting homeless people with free food thereby causing a public nuisance and inflating our numbers.

Now they have turned it around and are claiming we aren't? Wish people would get their propaganda at least consistent.

Homeless people are being treated nicely. I've some family out there, and they say the homeless are getting fed and sheltered.

I'd love to find some evidence - first hand tales, etc, that I can relay back.

That's nice. The right wing press nationwide is spreading the rumor that these folks are being abused.

Yes, exactly. I'm looking for some proof to defend OWS. I wish the Young Turks would do something on this, they've been pretty good about debunking things so far...
