I really admire this group & everyone for standing up for what they believe. It is about time, people state openly and demonstrate publicly for their beliefs & rights, using non-violence.
But i think now that we have the attention of the world, we should draw out list of changes that you want to see. It could be an ever changing list which everyone can add to and vote on. We got to get list of changes out, before attention of the millions fizzle out, and before winter sets in when you cant demonstrate publicly any longer.
Here is list of changes I would like to see.
- No more lobbying. Only people get votes, not corporations. 1 vote 1 person.
- Reduce work hours to 32 or 36hrs/week. It will boost employment, better health, and build stronger communities and families. Changing technology over the last few decades has made us hugely efficient, and has lessened the need for workers. So, it is about time that we scale back our work hours so that everyone can find work. Those who have jobs, don't have to constantly work overtime and neglect your family just so that you can justify your paycheck. More free time will also boost creativity and drive innovation. We need innovation, new thinking, not more stuff that everyone already has.
- Middle management & upper management is overrated. They are full of themselves thinking their ideas are brilliant & they serve a purpose that no one else in the company can. If you are a Steve Jobs, or Warren Buffet, or Mark Z or Bill Gates, and you write your paycheck because you built the company from the ground up, then great. Otherwise, There should be a salary cap and higher salaries should be voted by shareholders, not just board members.
- Allow more competition. Why are there only 3 big cell phone companies ? Why is there only 1 cable, 1 internet provider in my area ? Why are there only a few health insurance companies ?
- Universities should be centered on education & research, and not try to have the best college football stadiums, so that college costs stay low. Why have college costs gone up ? Has enrollment gone down ? I dont think so.
Sounds good so far maybe if the corps pay their fair share that could happen
