They hear but will they do anything?

1) OWS message to R.Paul's: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w3djHp3WuKA

OWS: "We are the 99 percent. We will be heard. There are criminals on Wall Street who walk free. There are protesters in jail. There is something wrong with this system."

RP: "If you listen carefully, I’m very much involved with the 99. I’ve been condemning that one percent because they’ve been ripping us off. We need to sort that out, but the people on Wall Street got the bail outs and you guys got stuck with the bills,”added Paul.“I think that’s where the problem is.”

2) OWS message to B.Obama: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fXqAk_Vfxy4

OWS: “Mr. President: Over 4,000 peaceful protesters have been arrested while banksters continue to destroy the economy,”protesters proclaimed. “You must stop the assault on our First Amendment rights. Your silence sends a message that police brutality is acceptable. Banks got bailed out. We got sold out.”

Obama: “We’ll be talking about a whole range of things today and I appreciate you guys making your point. Let me go ahead and make mine, alright? And I’ll listen to you and you listen to me.”

**edit. For some reason, I can't seem to type out RonPaul's name out properly. I think there's a glitch or something.

Blame the RP spammers who were so active here a couple weeks ago. If they had respected the forum and others no name would need to be altered or banned.

If i say RonPaul again i am banned from the forum..lol

They have decided what the 99% want..

Its certainly not what i want or any free thinking aware individual i know want.

The sad thing is that, like many of us here, I supported Obama in 2008. I really hoped something was going to change. I, like many others, feel betrayed. He has done some significant things, like overturning 'don't ask don't tell' and (hopefully i hope hope hope) removing troops from Iraq. But all of that is trumped by the fact that there's a lot he hasn't done.

Why hasn't he put stronger regulations on Wall Street and why hasn't he commented on the police brutality and blatant disrespect of the first amendment?

I don't want this to be an Obama bashing thread because there too much hate all around. I more want answers. Like any official, we elected him, we are entitled to answers. Republican, Democrat, Socialists, Anarchists, Communists, etc, we can all at least agree to that. We want answers.

Agreed. It's not really about bashing, but if there is, we simply want answers. We put our energy and emotion into the last campaign where hope and change was the motto.

I wish Obama can come out strong and side with OWS and at least speak out against the series of violence that had occured to the peaceful protesters (my expectations are now quite low for him).

I think his based is too educated about what should have been done and some of the other intricacies that it's difficult to throw our full support behind him.

One thing he defiantly needs to do is say "Hey Wallstreet, here's your money back, I don't want it." But we know he won't. It's all about the money, and it's said. I've said it before, we're going the way of Rome. Who will be fiddling when we're burning?

RP's last name is banned around here.

Obama's response = I don't care what you say, i am friends with the rich bankers, Goldman Sachs runs my treasury department, but i am going to smile and act like i care about you so that you will vote for me.

I used to think Bush was the biggest liar, until Obama came in. He has it down to an artform.

Yeah, both lied. I really did think he was going to stir up Washington just based on the excitement of his 2008 campaign. But oddily, his policies do mirror that of Bush.

I don't know if RonPaul would be any different. What if he's lying as well...he says he'll pull out all troops from not only the 6 countries we're actively fighting in but also many from the hundreds of bases around the world. I don't know if the President can do that... I can see him backing out of his promises just like Obama did.

RP is not a liar. The man has stood by his convictions for decades. He is just unelectable, and some of his ideas are very dangerous to the economy. It is unfortunate that he is pegged as such a wacko, even though he makes some crazy statements, but he self admittedly has said he could never achieve all he talks about without the help of Congress anyways. He is completely against unilateral actions by the President. Bush and Obama even more so, like to rule by fiat more and more. That is what is so dangerous. And the President has the power to pull all troops home immediately. He is in control of the military with the exception of the original act of starting foreign wars.

[-] 1 points by tjows (8) 12 years ago

So then why didn't Obama just pull out of all wars as he said when he ran. I remember him saying he'd take out all the troops out of Iraq as soon as he gets out of office, but all he did was just shift them to Afghanistan and they're still in there albeit they may be coming home this year.

Because he realized, or knew before hand, that full withdrawal would mean America LOST. America doesn't lose wars very gracefully, and definitely reflects badly against the President. Its all politics to him and the survival of himself and his party. Obama doesn't give a flip about what any of us want, or our troops. its all about him. Hes a narcissist.
