On one hand you have the "right" as I am and then we have the "left." What I am reading on this forum and from what interviews and signs I have seen on Wall Street we are splinting apart further in both directions. We are coming together in location but our ideals are being torn apart further. If demands are made it will run off one or the other side if they are numerous. What issues do we agree on? Lobbyist are bad? Bail Outs for Wall Street are bad? Do we even agree on those two issues? Also do you feel as I do that the left and right are spreading apart more in opposite directions?
Your wrong. It's not a zero-sum situation. I'll put it on the table now that I'm a liberal.
I'd work with Tea Party people if it meant getting the river of capitalism back under control. We might have different objects in the long term, but I think we can all agree that THERE IS A FUCKING FIRE AND WE NEED TO PUT IT OUT!
Bro hug. Seriously, open arms.
"I think we can all agree that THERE IS A FUCKING FIRE AND WE NEED TO PUT IT OUT!"
Fuckin' A, man. I'll piss on that fire if I have to, and hope my cock don't get burned.
The enemy of my enemy is my friend.
“Those who profess to favor freedom and yet depreciate agitation, are people who want crops without ploughing the ground; they want rain without thunder and lightning; they want the ocean without the roar of its many waters. The struggle may be a moral one, or it may be a physical one, or it may be both. But it must be a struggle. Power concedes nothing without a demand. It never did and it never will.” ― Frederick Douglass
All need to focus and define what is to be done. Otherwise the momentum will be lost and the message will never be know or heard.
FIX THE LAWS that caused the problem in the first place.
Don't let the politicians get you on the right vs. left game they play. They framed the whole political landscape so they were guarantee to be in power at least half the time. They would love the American people to keep the right vs. left hometown football rivalry while they laugh all the way to the bank. The real question is are your kids going to live in a country where their vote counts or not. Getting the influence of money out of politics (Campaign Finance Reform, getting rid of paid lobbyists/legalized bribery, and the ending of corporate person hood) should be priority #1 - a lot of people are beginning to realize that without campaign finance reform the other reforms have almost no change of happening. The only people who believe campaign finance reform should not happen are those at the top who love the current system.
very true. new extremes developing. the problems in our country have stirred the nest and caused people to become angry and extreme. the media plays these two against each other because it does create rage and fear but they are making a profit by tapping into primal emotions, furthering the tensions day by day, so what the hell... right? on the left you have the pure socialist bit and anti-religion. on the right you have the pure capitalist and the religious fringe. people tend to forget what makes us exceptional before spouting it. we have come a long way and for while we were doing well in the tolerance dept, but the wigs know the power of the people. so we inject some religious pandering and a little name calling, tie those issues into the issues that actually do matter to us and bam, it's a big shit sandwich and the working class have to eat it. i hate to point such a heavy finger at the right over the injection of religion but even in my family the introduction of religion of late has turned at least 3 of my family members to the democratic side of policy. but also i blame the dems. by increasing welfare instead of taking on wallstreet years ago, they allowed this problem to fester unattended. both parties are guilty and have set a pox on everyone's house. sad isn't it.
The more news I watch and the more I read on here I start to see an end game. The 1% really want Obama and the left in power. Because they tend to spend more to create more entitlements and welfare. The 1% and I don't mean just the 1% here in America, Israel, Saudi Arabia, China and the oil companies are the reason we are in these wars now. So the 1% already control our Military. The Federal Reserve which is controlled by the 1% is now debasing our dollar. Why would the 1% want there money to be worth less? Because the IMF and the 1% want to see the dollar crash and come up with a new global dollar and world government. I might not explain this in the best way but just look around and see what is happening here and across the world.
to true, to true.
end the wars
Public campaign financing and Glass-Steagal seem like the closest thing to a consensus.
I agree. These are good key ideas that should be organized around.
I agree on those two things and that should really be it for this movement. I started off supporting this movement and still do to an extent, but something official should be declared sooner or later. People want to know what they are standing for. Those 2 issues you mention would unite the masses. Something more to the far left won't. Either way, a decision should be made,
I agree. Although I wished more people would watch V for Vendetta. The left want the government that the movie started out in and the right looks to the views of V himself. That single movie shows 100% what things will be like in the perfect left world.
"The people should never be afraid of the government. The government should be afraid of the people."
I think that one quote from the movie captures the entire spirit of the movement. It's no wonder that Anonymous models themselves after V - without the knives and explosives, though.
That is so wrong. Look to the 40s-70s USA for a pretty good left world. The authoritarian state in V is fascist (does anyone want to dispute where that falls on the spectrum?). Look to Scandinavia, BTW, for what I, as a leftist, consider ideal. Anything beyond that is extreme and has nothing to do with what anyone of goodwill on either side is looking for.
I think the important thing to keep in mind is that we are currently in a collapsing economic system. The system is going to fail worse then it already has in time because it is unjust and unlawful, but there is no time to wait. There has to be action now in order to prevent things from getting worse. Glass-Steagal is a first good step. Educating people about the Fed and how it was created I also think is important. This time right now is ripe for education and investigation into the history that has brought us to this point.
No when you ask the government to do everything it will. I hope we can change this before its to late but when the dollar crashes we will then be forced to rely on the government for everything. The dollar will crash if the left have anything to do with it and That is the main goal of the 1%. They have now gained control of so much money it is meaning less to them and now they hunger for power.
