Forum Post: OWS gets their way - then what? What will you then CREATE?

This content is user submitted and not an official statement

Have not seen how you plan to rebuild it so it is much better than today. You do have a plan posted on here? It took 200+ years to get to this point. How long will it take for YOU to fix what you think is broken? One month, five years, 75 years? I would like a vision for what it will look like.

A middle and upper class for our children.

Not a society where kids today bankrupt themselves just to get a dead end job.

Third world trade has only wrought third world standard of living to the US shores

I want you to watch this short video. Hopefully you can finally see that kids do stupid things. Take note of how she handled her employment situation to be a part of OWS

Who are you and where did you come from. This is one of most important and intelligent questions I've seen on this site. Of course no one can answer it fully and in as much detail as we all would like. I will share the best thing that i've ever found on the web or anywhere else. I think you will be pleased. It certainly set my mind at ease.

Here is my tiny little thought. THERE IS NOT PLAN. I do have an interest in this movement and I have spent a lot of time reading and post my comments. I may be what you call a "troll." Not sure what that means. I like to post comments that I think everyone would like to comment for or against. My findings are that there are a ton "ton is a funny word" of people on here that want mommy government to control their every breath. They want taxes to be raise, PLAIN AND SIMPLE, so they can live without responsibilities. Others have some vision in their mind of something different. However, there as many different ideas as there are people posting on here. I agree with about 5% of the ideas on here and those 5% are very interesting. THERE IS NO PLAN. This is a waste of time.

Perhaps it isn't about creating anything new so much, as it's about restoring systemic stability.

[-] -1 points by mynameismoe (153) 13 years ago

You just proved my point. "PERHAPS" you say is not a plan. The movement seems to jump up and down and riot about change. Change to WHAT? If you burn your house down because you are mad leaves you without a house.

[-] 1 points by LoTek (53) 13 years ago

Actually, I didn't prove anything. I only made a statement that suggests a concept counter to your expectations.

[-] 0 points by mynameismoe (153) 13 years ago

Sorry, I didnt read your "suggestions or concept." Where are they?

[-] 1 points by LoTek (53) 13 years ago

You asked for a defined answer of what OWS would create.

I answered by implying that it's possible that they want a restoration of systemic stability.

I made no suggestions beyond that. But, by way of your responses, seem to have a preconceived concept you were trying to satiate.

[-] 1 points by WFCapitalist07 (24) 13 years ago

Speaking of systemic stability have you read the Squam Lake Report?

[-] 0 points by WFCapitalist07 (24) 13 years ago

How are they working towards systemic stability by laying around and wallowing in their own filth?

[-] 0 points by mynameismoe (153) 13 years ago

OMG,,,, YOU GOT IT. You have the answer. I would suggest the leaders of OWS should hold a press conference tomorrow and propose the solution to our world problems, "SYSTEMIC STABILITY." That is it in a nut shell. Everyone can now go home. This is great news. Nobel Peace Prize awaits you.

[-] 1 points by LoTek (53) 13 years ago

Actually, they have their answers. Time will tell.

As for myself, I've just educated relentlessly on the topics and data that's been focused. It could serve you at least as justly, as you seem well spoken and educated.

Be well.

How about a vision of cooperatives over corporations? End this unsustainable consumerism and HEAL through new energy technology, sustainable farming and community sharing. And, this is a movement we all feed and create together, so instead of demaning answers, join the discussion and participate in the dialogue to help CREATE solutions.

Although your ideas won't be the OWS platform (they're directed at DC and Wall Street), I do believe 100% in your concepts of co-ops and sustainable communities over consumerism and corporations. If we could achieve both these things, OWS' political changes from the top and individual changes from the bottom, I believe this country would finally be back on the road to greatness. It will take a lot of work though, especially changing the mindset of 300 million Americans used to Chinese toys and easy gratification.

[-] -1 points by mynameismoe (153) 13 years ago

Guess what? You do can do those things now. If it really works as you suggest then the great results would be visible far faster than this OWS movement of tearing things down.

Personally,

I would advocate for what I call Socialist Republicanism -

Where corporations are modeled after a constitutional republic... so basically a model where shareholders, employees, and the board/ceo have a way to influence the direction of the corporation... however the minority is protected by the interplay of the various internal branches of the corporation (checks and balances).

Perhaps a specific model would be - Shareholders and employees act as the "house", while 2 members of each factor or 2 members of internal departments form the "senate" The CEO/board obviously act as "executive branch" and a elected council consisting 60% employees and 40% shareholders acts as the judiciary...

the idea is to have charter that is amendable only by going through the "house", "senate", and "executive"... which can be challenged by anyone through the "judiciary"... and so on and so forth.

Obviously a lot to work out, so I am still in the beginning stage of figuring out all of it...

I realize this is a pipe dream, so I would settle with tying executive/board/management pay to the lowest paid worker in the corporation to a maximum 7 to 1... which can only be raised from 7 if voted on by the employees (not the shareholders), or by of course raising the lowest paid workers salaries/wage...

that would cut out a lot of the corruption IMO.... and make campaigns publicly funded ONLY.

I would like to see the formation of a Social Democratic Party and I would like to be an insider of that Party, since my fellow NYC preppies, I grew up with, now infesting the Democratic Party, yes, infesting the once great Democratic Party, don't advance my interest, not nearly close to my interests, not even vaguely represent my interests and I am tired of these Park Avenue parasites!

Who is the spokesperson that will make the announcement? Names?

[-] -1 points by mynameismoe (153) 13 years ago

I have not read the road map to what you want as a solution.

[-] -1 points by mynameismoe (153) 13 years ago

Where is the plan? Who has it?

[-] 2 points by mwagshol (120) from Seattle, WA 13 years ago

Do you just want other people to do your homework for you? Just trying to copy down the answers, so you won't have to put in any effort or thought at all. Instead of being so cynical, why don't YOU do some research and read the hundreds of various ideas that are out there, some that are old, and with new ones popping every day. Then maybe you could combine all this information into a unique possible way forward for this country, that works for you, to have a better future for us all. Or do you think things are just perfect right now?

So many are calling people involved with OWS lazy, but why aren't you putting in the time to do your own homework? You might just learn something!

[-] 2 points by humanprogress (55) 13 years ago

bravo!

[-] -1 points by mynameismoe (153) 13 years ago

No, I want to be lazy like the liberals and have you spoon feed me the info. If not, I will keep going down the same great path that America has gone down for over 200 years. I dont watch Star Trek.

Good question.
