Forum Post: OWS, do NOT cave in to red-baiting and bullying

To all liberals/progressives who support Occupy Wall Street- do not in any way capitulate to these calls from your enemies and false friends from the two corporate parties that Occupy Wall Street needs to "moderate" and "control" its message if it wants to be "credible" with "mainstream" America. That Occupy Wall Street cannot afford to associate itself with 'communists", "anarchists" and "radicals".

Do not cave in to that nonsense. You really think that the right-wing is going to be nicer to liberals if they do in fact marginalize or expel socialists and anarchists from their demos? No, they will attack you anyway. When you give the bully what the bully wants, he doesn't become your friend, he will push for even more because he knows he can get it. It's a stupid, divisive, and a self-defeating tactic.

As for the question of being 'mainstream'-mainstream for who, one should ask? Do the 50 million Americans without healthcare count as 'mainstream'? What about the millions of people being kicked out of their homes, do they count as "mainstream"? What about the blacks and Latinos that are legally lynched by the racist "justice" system like Troy Davis, are they "mainstream"? What about the thousands of soldiers killed or maimed for life in wars for oil in the Middle East(to say nothing of the hundreds of thousands of innocent civilians slaughtered in these wars), do they count as "mainstream"?

People are tired of everything being endlessly put through a bullshit filter to appease our corporate fatcat masters. They want people who stand up and fight for what they believe in, who speak 'truth to power'. They want people to stand up and say 'this whole system is bullshit and needs to be radically changed'.

Martin Luther King Jr. once said "Our lives start to end the day we become silent about the things that matter".
