Untied we stand, Divided we fall.
When we're not talking about poltiics, we all get along just fine at PTA meetings, sporting events, bars/clubs, the office, etc. So why do we hate on each other over politics?
At the end of the day, we are one, we are the 99%, we are America, and we need to take our country back from the elite.
I joined the forum today just to agree with you.
"we all get along just fine at PTA meetings, sporting events, bars/clubs, the office, etc. So why do we hate on each other over politics?"
Odd, isn't it? I think we hate each other over politics because TPTB work to keep it that way. Keep the peons busy fighting each other so they won't notice they are being screwed. I hope others who read your post sit up and take notice.
Totally agree... It'll be crazy scary if we get together, let's get the dialog with them going... we must do this.
Agreed! The one core message that keeps coming back that everyone can unite around is - get money out of politics. One person, one vote, not one dollar, one vote.
This is something almost every Occupier and Tea Partier can agree on.

As long as the tea party bones up on history and ends the race baiting.

Wall street is not the problem. politicians are the problem. Always have and always will be. Corporations always work in the best interests of the corp and of investors. Not a bad thing in itself. Its what built the country. As a Tea party supporter are message is distorted by the media just like yours does. We are not racists. We just don't trust the govt. deregulation entirely is not the request. But for goodness sake if we have already invested in them as a country we have to let them run a bit. You can only punish them so far. We should have let them fail then. But we didn't. So time to let them back in the game. It's one our most economically important sectors.
The businesses take what our politicians allow them to, because the politicians take donations from businesses to fulfill their number 1 objective...to get re-elected. Their legislation allows the corperations to do and get away with bad things. Vote at the ballot box. Every time they blow it..vote them out. If we were truly 99% it should be easy, right? The tea party just wants less govt involvement in our daily lives, fiscal responsibility, and keep govt from calling winners and losers in the markets. Vote with dollar and the ballot box. The almighty dollar always prevails. Use it to your advantage.
I can't believe I'm saying this either, but what the hell and why the hell not? We have been staggered as a nation for far too long both among people and in Congress over political SIDES, and the issue is no longer sides. It is right and wrong, and though I am a democrat, am am willing to stand beside anyone who wants to fight for a real change, for governmental accountability- whether we should have more or less government isn't the issue... lets fix the government we have now, let all our voices be heard!
Because the beliefs are completely opposed.
OWS believes Wall St is too strong and too influential.
The Tea Party wants to deregulate it completely which is exactly what the banks want.
But if we joined in a public conversation, couldn't we help inform each other? I mean, my aunt and uncle out in Missouri are tea-party people, but I feel like they are because they just think that there is too much government and government seems to be just messing things up... I don't know how much thought they have given to the deregulation of banks (apart from we shouldn't have let the govt bail them out, and with this I sort of agree, so, you know)...
Sure, but you'd have to convince them that more regulation is needed, and you're going to have a very very hard time.
Ok, well, so it's a very very hard time. Not impossible. Not resisting arrest, camping in the cold, successful organization of mass crowds, so many of these are also a very very hard time. All I am saying is I think that many (not all) tea-party people are just sick of the status quo, and the choose the tea party because it is their environment/ party's movement- and with them a conversation about options and accountability could be opened.
I'm certainly not saying it's impossible. I'd be interested to see how such efforts turned out.
The Tea Party was corrupted a long time ago by Fox News, Dick Army(Freedom Works) the Koch Brothers and various other right wing elites! Too bad!!!!
They are not a unified group (just like OWS for that matter). There are plenty of elements who are disgruntled. Read this:
