Sun Tzu said: The art of war is of vital importance to the State.

  1. It is a matter of life and death, a road either to safety or to ruin. Hence it is a subject of inquiry which can on no account be neglected.

  2. The art of war, then, is governed by five constant factors, to be taken into account in one's deliberations, when seeking to determine the conditions obtaining in the field.

  3. These are: (1) The Moral Law; (2) Heaven; (3) Earth; (4) The Commander; (5) Method and discipline.

Winter coming. Cityscapes with fences. No leader. Mayhem. Moral Law alone does not produce victory.

Sun Tzu = Undefeated, yet Not Non- violent.

Sun Tzu was a hardened military man, who instructed in the martial ways. Sun Tzu led as a dictator, not as part of a "collective".

True, true and true.

So far no collective has actually governed. Perhaps it will.

Are you implying Sun Tzu was wrong?

Hell no. Sun Tzu was the man. I agree with everything I have ever read about him. That being the case, certain cornerstones of his wisdom can only be used in the same atmosphere that Sun Tzu was in.

Well said. Thx. I think that those five pretenses are critical for war or non-war. To even venture forth without a coat on a cold day conflicts with Sun Tzu. His wisdom is so profound that to oppose an enemy versed in him is foolish.

I fear for the protesters and hope for them at the same time.
