Trying to use OWS to support a thousand personal crusades invites sectarianism. We need coalition building. Bring in the Tea Party, the Greens, the Libratarians, and anyone else who is disgusted by the status quo.
We need a 28th amendment to reform the way our republic holds elections.
A single clear demand (remember that "What is our one demand?)
Acheivable
Permenant
Amend the Constitution
Speaking as a Tea Partier, that is one demand America has pretty much always supported. There will be no alliance between OWS and the TP however... sorry.
Why not? A single issue vital to our democracy. If we can't put our differences aside to fight for this then the republic is doomed.
OWS is unfortunately tainted with a wellknown galaxy of other issues that do not play well outside the OWS, though this is not the movement's fault. However, we will likely all win on this issue as long as the avg voter is aware of it. I agree it's priority #1.
When you ask for everyone's input, you get it. But creating an echo chamber doesn't get you anywhere. Lets focus on common sense solutions to ending corruption.
Focusing the voter will do it of course. And OWS has advanced that message well.
I've put my name there. 235,070 signatures right now. I think OWS is not a party, since it's composed of socialist and libertarian types, along with many moderates. OWS is about raising awareness and uniting behind single issues like this, not uniting behind a whole party.
