I see you have this forum going. This is a wonderful start, but I am posting this message to invite all of you to WE are the Democracy - http://www.wearethedemocracy.com
We are the Democracy is not another activist organization. There are already many groups and institutions doing exceptional work (Occupy Wall Street is one.
WE are the Democracy exists for the sole purpose of facilitating communication, networking and organization within the burgeoning PEOPLE's movement. This board is currently in its' beta testing stage. Our immediate goals are:
To seek involvement of established activist groups and organizations (like Occupy Wall Street). Each established organization will be provided its' own forum class and a WE are the Democracy Blog.
Grow board membership to include a diverse array of activists. Participation by people from the front-lines all the way to state, regional and national leaders is essential to building a strong, cohesive national movement.
As the owner of WE are the Democracy - I am inviting everyone involved with Occupy Wall Street to use WE are the Democracy. If the leadership of Occupy Wall Street wishes, I can set up a forum class specifically for Occupy Wall Street, the forum administrator will then have the ability to set up sub forums as are needed by the movement. (Think of all the different ways you could categorize all the discussion threads that have been started right here. WE are the Democracy will give you a way to organize the many discussions going on within your movement.)
If the Occupy Wall Street leadership is interested - feel free to join up at We are the Democracy and send me a private message. My user name is RoseGardener.

The most important tool the banksters/militaryindustrialcomplexhex uses to manipulate and maintain power is to divide the public into narrow identity groups, and plant rhetoric to trigger scapegoating of other tribes. The right left split is largely though not completely manufactured and spin control. It's working really well.Any actions that fail to take this into account won't succeed. The most important thing strategically is to appeal to the general public(,not just the traditionally radical-to progressive -to liberal part of the spectrum and show how their interests are at stake, there's no reason in th eworld why we can't make common cause with many tea party people, even though we may disagree on other things. If we don't succeed in increasing out numbers we won't get anmywhere
Samawry - you are right - the problems America faces today transcend party lines. Money and corruption in politics is something every American should be concerned about.
In addition to that - for America to realize its' highest potential the PEOPLE must take seriously their responsibility of self-governance. This means WE the PEOPLE must lead the way in compromise, finding common ground etc... It is the concerns you outlined that caused me to write the WE are the Democracy board etiquette rules. They follow:
We are the Democracy forums are established for the purpose of facilitating communication, networking and organization throughout the seedling PEOPLE's movement. If we expect our politicians to be ethical, treat other humans with respect and seek common ground than we must be willing to do so as well. Following are etiquette guidelines for all members.
Above all else - treat each other the way you want to be treated yourself. (This includes any on the ground actions you plan, if you feel the action would be unethical if directed at you, then it's unethical directed at another person). Act like adults and hold each other to high standards of civility and respect. Uncivil language and condescending behavior will not be tolerated.
Cooperation and compromise are essential for a healthy Democracy. Be prepared to open your mind and be willing to compromise. This is a working board. The only way we will accomplish anything of value is to speak with one voice. So compromise, cooperation and patience are required.
Common sense and facts will guide our interaction with each other. Be prepared to back up your position with factual evidence obtained from reliable sources.
The American Democracy demands separation of church and state. On this board we will respect that principal.
The American Democracy also makes room for the voice in minority. Remember that as you interact with other members.
Last, but not least, if you can not think of anything productive to say than back away from the keyboard. Go for a walk, do some errands around your house, calm down and choose your words with care. This is a working board, we are seeking solutions not endless debate.
If Occupy Wall Street chooses to use WE are the Democracy for on-line organizing, discussion, polling, etc... they will have chosen a place that is about America - not about party.
In order for America to unfold its' full potential, We the PEOPLE must take our rightful place in the process of self-goverenance. I am the Rose Gardener, this board is my contribution to the PEOPLE's movement. Read more about the vision for WE are the Democracy in the Rose Gardener's Blog - We are the Democracy Thread. Then please consider participating in this effort. In Peace - Rose
