Chris Hedges - The Price for Truth in Journalism (Israel Gaza)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h9gFbrEmejw

[-] 2 points by FawkesNews (1290) 11 years ago

Thank you.

[-] 3 points by TrevorMnemonic (5827) 11 years ago

talking about Gaza in the news is like trying to talk about all the innocent civilians killed in check points and raids by US troops in Iraq and Afghanistan. How can you talk about the bad when the troops are supposed to be heroes no matter what?

[-] 2 points by FawkesNews (1290) 11 years ago

The truth is undeniable and cannot be subverted very long.

I remember the impact an 'Aegis' video had on so many people a few years ago. I never heard one person support it. In fact, many of the people who were changed as a result of it have become very informed people. Here is that video... http://www.liveleak.com/view?i=c15_1333825385

Since then, I have noticed less resistance when exposing such atrocities.

[-] 0 points by SteadyRock (63) from New York, NY 11 years ago

yes! if you like it. but your comment might be downgraded soon

[-] 2 points by FawkesNews (1290) 11 years ago

Israel remains the"The Third Rail". Even OWS cannot discuss it.

[-] 1 points by peacehurricane (293) 11 years ago

Why the post will be removed. You are not OWS? I am up to discussing everything and it seems the Jewish still do not get it.

[-] 1 points by FawkesNews (1290) 11 years ago

If this post be removed it will only represent the limits upon "Free Speech" by those who espouse it.

[-] 1 points by peacehurricane (293) 11 years ago

What limits Free Speech knows no bounds and it is bound to stay that way forever and ever Amen

[-] 1 points by FawkesNews (1290) 11 years ago

What is it that limits free speech? It must know boundaries.

[-] -2 points by shoozTroll (17632) 11 years ago

You won't discuss Michigan either and that's a lot closer to home.

In my opinion there isn't a single soul here with a handle on that situation.

So why play conspiracy theory games with it?

[-] 3 points by FawkesNews (1290) 11 years ago

Michigan? Conspiracy games?

Which aspect of Michigan are you talking of? The above post is relevant to a global view of Occupying entities occupying each other.

[-] 0 points by shoozTroll (17632) 11 years ago

NO.

The situation in Michigan is very REAL. Tyranny, "right" here at home.

It's people thinking this forum can analyze the middle east that's the conspiracy theory.

If you think you know what's going on in Israel and you have NO idea what just happened in Michigan?

I mean WTF?

[-] 1 points by FawkesNews (1290) 11 years ago

Tyranny is a severe word. What in Michigan are you inferring to?

If people in this forum are afraid to discuss Israel then where lay "Free Speech"?

[-] 2 points by peacehurricane (293) 11 years ago

I fear nothing so kindly speak for yourself because speaking for others requires ALL POSSIBILIYTY

[-] 1 points by shoozTroll (17632) 11 years ago

How in the World can you think you know anything about the Middle East when you are so blithely unaware of what is happening in the States here at home?

You could either employ google or use the search function of the forum to get up to speed.

Unmitigated tyranny is what is happening in Michigan.

[-] 2 points by TrevorMnemonic (5827) 11 years ago

It's happening all over the country and the world. Just like in Michigan. We've seen the tactics they're using in Michigan in other states and cities as well.

Corporate push to sacrifice native territories happening right here in Nebraska right now. Corporate push against giving gays equal rights at work just happened a while back here as well. My congressman works and advertises for the Keystone pipeline. North Omaha is Nebraska's newest sacrifice zone. -corporate dominance is happening everywhere.

Going to the world, the Afghanistan war has become a war of imperialism to extract trillions in resources. It's death for the pursuit of profits.

[-] 1 points by shoozTroll (17632) 11 years ago

This should totally disgust you.

http://www.alternet.org/news-amp-politics/drunk-dc-cop-gets-easy-after-shooting-3-transgender-women

The "war" of corporate imperialism is happening in our States "right" before our eyes too.

What Snyder/ALEC have done in Michigan perfectly fits the definition of tyranny.

Perfectly

[-] 2 points by TrevorMnemonic (5827) 11 years ago

have you ever gone to a public discussion with local officials on police and security?

We had one a few months ago in my city for example, it was supposed to be an open forum to discuss ways to improve the city's police department. Instead it turned out to be a ton of people showing up to talk about white cops discriminantly beating and harassing black people in North Omaha.

It is disgusting that these police officers abuse their position and never get punished.

Also ALEC already got most of their way in Nebraska. More than doubled their senators since 2010

[-] 1 points by shoozTroll (17632) 11 years ago

Are you beginning to understand why I am so adamant that we try and concentrate on what's happening in the States?

In Michigan we tossed a lot of teabagge(R)s out in the last election and in reprisal we got almost 300 bills pushed through in their lame duck session.

[-] 1 points by TrevorMnemonic (5827) 11 years ago

I never misunderstood your stance against ALEC.

Are you from Michigan?

People should discuss Gaza and other issues too. There is nothing wrong with that.

[-] 0 points by shoozTroll (17632) 11 years ago

Sure, I guess, but I would still like to think that one has at least some idea of what's happening in their own backyard.

A place we are much better equipped to affect.

The first step will not be taken across an ocean.

[-] 0 points by TrevorMnemonic (5827) 11 years ago

considering how many of our tax dollars go to fund Israel instead of social programs, this topic is in our own back yard.

Discussing Israel and Gaza is fine. Personally I think a simple solution is, no more funding unless they stop their assault on Gaza. Netenyahu is the Bush of Israel. I hate when tax dollars fund right wing warmonger groups desperately trying to get the USA into a war with Iran. If you consider how much war has fucked up our country, the Israel topic is still an important one.

What's happening in Michigan is happening everywhere. Are you from Michigan? You've used the term "we" a few times when discussing Michigan.

[-] 2 points by FawkesNews (1290) 11 years ago

Ad hominem?

What in Michigan are you referring to? Anti-Abortion? Unions? Idle No More? Emergency Managers?

[-] 1 points by shoozTroll (17632) 11 years ago

Was that a question, or an answer?

Idle No More is a Canadian First Nations movement.

There is a thread available on the subject.

Try and keep up.

PS: the ad hominem excuse has been over used, and not in a good way.

Just as a distortion and distraction from answering valid questions and challenges.

[-] 2 points by FawkesNews (1290) 11 years ago

...."you are so blithely unaware"....= Ad hominem. Idle No More is growing rapidly and is continental. I ask again "What in Michigan are you referring to?"

This thread has articles about people pitching tents in disputed land. The dispute over that land has received a resounding response from the world.

[-] 1 points by shoozTroll (17632) 11 years ago

I see you've edited your comment.

Is there a $30 term for that?

Out of the 3 applying to Michigan, it shouldn't be all that hard to figure out which one constitutes tyranny.

To pretend you can't, is pretty darn blithe.

So no. Not ad hominem.

Like I said, it's been done to death and used only as an excuse..

[-] 3 points by FawkesNews (1290) 11 years ago

I edited my comment once I discovered that information.

I am learning of the ails of Michigan right now. I will likely discuss my findings in the appropriate threads.

Regarding this thread, I find a blatant lack of discussion regarding it.

[-] 1 points by shoozTroll (17632) 11 years ago

Because no one here really knows.

I would say the cure would be a World Wide enforcement of a separation of church and State.

I don't however believe mankind is anywhere near accepting such a thing.

We can't even accept it here in America.

[-] 1 points by peacehurricane (293) 11 years ago

Oh yes it shall be again separated.. We can not afford this attempt at making the country other than it was made as. Our constitution ensures certain rights exist for the country to exist and I am real sure We want to keep it that way. The reason there is not any money is attributed to enforcement toward something else and right about now deems itself unamerican because Freedom looks far more pleasant and harms none!

[-] 2 points by shoozTroll (17632) 11 years ago

Even today, they are writing laws respecting religion.

They consider it patriotic.

I remember Sinclare Lewis.

[-] 1 points by FawkesNews (1290) 11 years ago

Thank you.

Separating church and state frees resources. I think many countries would rather have those resources available to their own citizens. America has chosen to relinquish those resources, at the expense of it's own citizens, to support ideologies that can only be interpreted as religious.

[-] 1 points by peacehurricane (293) 11 years ago

There is no such thing as only interpreted, every individual has their own what they make of it is up to them. Get up off peoples religions and thinking speak for your self if you can. Freeing resources has nothing to do with the necessity to a country have Americans choice is FREEDOM Costly as you may be this too shall pass

[-] 1 points by FawkesNews (1290) 11 years ago

Costly as I may be? Your lack of punctuation and rambling is difficult to say the least.

[-] 1 points by shoozTroll (17632) 11 years ago

WallStreet, with it's belief in an "invisible hand", is a kind religion in it's own right, I agree, but it's also a different situation from the Middle East.

[-] 1 points by FawkesNews (1290) 11 years ago

When you look into who is behind many of these banks, you will find a religion represented by those who run those banks. It may appear disproportionate until you consider the politicians financed by these bankers and the policies those politicians implement.

[-] 0 points by OTP (-203) from Tampa, FL 11 years ago

I know whats going on over there. After WWII the west and israel came in and diced teh shit out of the entire region and now cant understand why no one is getting along. Not too complicated.

Nationalism can be a real bitch.

[-] 1 points by FawkesNews (1290) 11 years ago

A nation dependent upon redrawn borders ought not unilaterally redraw borders?

[-] 1 points by FawkesNews (1290) 11 years ago

That was short lived. Incredible what is not discussed openly.

http://www.cnn.com/2013/01/12/world/meast/west-bank-protest/index.html

[-] 1 points by dreamingforward (394) from Gothenburg, NE 11 years ago

Yeah, it seems Americans are on Native land and no one discusses it.

[-] 2 points by FawkesNews (1290) 11 years ago

What has happened in North America to the indigenous people is a disgrace. Few dispute that. What is happening elsewhere is often no different, yet many dispute it.

[-] 1 points by dreamingforward (394) from Gothenburg, NE 11 years ago

If it's undisputed, then it should be remedied, pronto. That's the only way forward.

[-] 1 points by OTP (-203) from Tampa, FL 11 years ago

US promised a veto in the UN vote a little while ago on Palestinian statehood, so they just canceled the vote rather than bring all that international heat on us.

If the US doesnt back it, its going nowhere.

[-] 0 points by dreamingforward (394) from Gothenburg, NE 11 years ago

That is a secondary issue. Right here in the U.S. is a major, more significant and unresolved issue. Palestine is nothing more than a distraction, please. Unless you know the ways of G-d, you and shouldn't get involved, whereas the issue in the U.S. is inarguable.

[-] 2 points by FawkesNews (1290) 11 years ago

Are you asking me to get off the third rail?

The issue in the U.S. is corrupt banking, financing corruption in government. Correct? What interests do the bankers share in common?

[-] 2 points by shoozTroll (17632) 11 years ago

No.

The issue is a corrupted Wallstreet, financing corruption in the government.

Indeed, in it's many iterations corrupting governments around the World.

This is an important distinction.

[-] 2 points by FawkesNews (1290) 11 years ago

Please clarify.

[-] 1 points by OTP (-203) from Tampa, FL 11 years ago

At the end of every corporation is the money. They need money to operate. At the end of every war is money. They need money to wage war.

Who lends the money? Banks. Banks run the shit. Plain and simple. Theres a reason JP Morgan was around in 1895 to bail out the gov, and is STILL around.

"Follow the money"....where does the money trail end? Where it is lent from? Or where it was printed from?

And if forced to choose one of the two, arent the players like a revolving door as far as boards go, so does it really matter?

[-] 1 points by FawkesNews (1290) 11 years ago

No disagreements.

[-] 1 points by OTP (-203) from Tampa, FL 11 years ago

Seems fairly obvious... its all about the benjamins

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=REycCu49Vvk

Even Diddy says dont blame me for burying money offshore...

[-] 1 points by FawkesNews (1290) 11 years ago

No one can purchase a loaded gun pointed at them with intent. The gun will get the money and retain the gun.

Money, at times resembles power but real power is in the people.

[-] 1 points by OTP (-203) from Tampa, FL 11 years ago

You will like this. 300 million vs a gang of a few...

It focses on taxation more than anything, but anything can be applied...

[-] 1 points by FawkesNews (1290) 11 years ago

Thank you for the best expenditure of 7 minutes I have seen in years.

[-] 1 points by shoozTroll (17632) 11 years ago

What part was a problem for you?

It's about as concise as I can make it.

Should I invent an analogy, or a metaphor?

[-] 0 points by FawkesNews (1290) 11 years ago

Wall Street solely?

[-] 1 points by shoozTroll (17632) 11 years ago

Strange.

I ask for a statement and you provide a question.

[-] 0 points by FawkesNews (1290) 11 years ago

"The issue in the U.S. is corrupt government financed by corrupt banking."

"The issue is a corrupted Wallstreet, financing corruption in the government."

I feel to see your "important distinction."

[-] 1 points by shoozTroll (17632) 11 years ago

OK

What you are saying, is like insisting that the Mississippi flows south to north.

That's only happened once that we know of and it took an unprecedented earthquake.

[-] 1 points by FawkesNews (1290) 11 years ago

Understood and adjusted. Thank you.

[-] 1 points by DKAtoday (33802) from Coon Rapids, MN 11 years ago

And fundamental change for the better will come from the People/Public getting involved taking action and staying involved.

[-] 2 points by shoozTroll (17632) 11 years ago

A matter of staying focused, peaceful and relentless.

[-] 1 points by DKAtoday (33802) from Coon Rapids, MN 11 years ago

Yep - plan for the worst while working/hoping for the best - never pin all of your hopes and dreams to any one single issue outcome - just know that each success brings you ( us ) a step closer to a better world for all and a loss is only a temporary set-back.

[-] 2 points by shoozTroll (17632) 11 years ago

For the sake of brevity, I left patience as implied............:)

[-] 2 points by DKAtoday (33802) from Coon Rapids, MN 11 years ago

I took that as a given ( my bad? ) - with peaceful & relentless. {;-])

[-] 1 points by dreamingforward (394) from Gothenburg, NE 11 years ago

I''m saying you don't really know what you're doing.

[-] 1 points by peacehurricane (293) 11 years ago

You can not know what someone knows I do know what I am doing WE...

[-] 1 points by FawkesNews (1290) 11 years ago

Did you read the articles included?

[-] 1 points by peacehurricane (293) 11 years ago

Once again maybe We do not give a flying f---. Get on third rail if you like I can nearly guarantee you will be caring less and less for me..

[-] 1 points by FawkesNews (1290) 11 years ago

You don't give a fuck about money in politics? Why are you even here?

[-] 0 points by peacehurricane (293) 11 years ago

Land can not be owned it belongs to God. Attempting to do so (in recent time)is when the screwing us started.

[-] 2 points by FawkesNews (1290) 11 years ago

God?

[-] 1 points by agkaiser (2547) from Fredericksburg, TX 11 years ago

That was the consensus among Mesopotamian priests and kings 3500 years ago. So it was written by Moses in Leviticus. He said it came from his god. It was a good idea no matter who gets the credit.

[-] 1 points by FawkesNews (1290) 11 years ago

What?

[-] 1 points by agkaiser (2547) from Fredericksburg, TX 11 years ago

Land cannot be owned. It belongs to all of life. Some choose to personify the force of life as a god. No matter what you think of god, the liberation of the planet from the capitalists who own it is a good idea.

[-] 1 points by DKAtoday (33802) from Coon Rapids, MN 11 years ago

OWN IT???? umm me think-est force-ably raping would be closer to the truth.

[-] 1 points by agkaiser (2547) from Fredericksburg, TX 11 years ago

Your definition of non owner occupied property ownership works for me.

[-] 1 points by FawkesNews (1290) 11 years ago

Thank you for clearing that up. When humankind becomes a type 1 civilization the sphere we live on will be owned by all.

[-] 1 points by agkaiser (2547) from Fredericksburg, TX 11 years ago

We'd get there a lot quicker if the TP knuckle draggers knew that the rentiers were their masters and that they're slaves.

[-] 0 points by FawkesNews (1290) 11 years ago

TP knuckle draggers?

[-] 1 points by dreamingforward (394) from Gothenburg, NE 11 years ago

Why do you think the U.S. is falling?

[-] 1 points by FawkesNews (1290) 11 years ago

God?
