I have been more intrigued by the Occupy Wall Street group in recent days and noticed a few things. A lot of what is being reported and written on this forum is very similar to what the Tea Party movement is looking for. Occupy Wall Street is up in arms over the bailouts and coziness of government and corporate America. Funny thing is that Tea Party goers were against the same thing yet they talked about it in the form of out of control spending and over taxation. Both groups are looking to achieve the same thing; government that is accountable - right?
A small portion of what the tea party represents also goes along with what OWS represents. They see the same problem, yes. How they solve the problem is strikingly different. The tea party was infiltrated by the far right conservatives and the republican party. I'm sorry to say it, but the republicans are much more guilty of putting corporations in control of this country.
The tea party also represents an animosity of the poor for not picking themselves up by their boot straps. They are against universal healthcare. Most disagree with pell grants and education assistance. Many are against gay and equal rights. They want small government and less regulation. They are against any tax increase, even if it means advancing our country in education or infrastructure to make us competitive. I could go on.
The tea party is the reason that I am involved in this movement. I'm sick of them hijacking congress. In the nicest way possible, I hope this movement represents mostly what they do not.
Tea Party was smaller government yes. It does want equality for all. The group just does not see Government as the tool to achieve that. As a free society we all owe to each other to treat each other with decency. Unfortunately we have turned to government too often that has allowed for the political elite to keep us in check and on the reservation.

One sees government as something that should basically be abolished, the other wants to take back government from the oligarchs. There is a narrow overlap. The alliance would be extremely volatile.
OWS is the tea party and everybody else in the 99% .... get it ! ... everything including politics is controlled by a very few. It is time to kick the money changers out of the temple once again ....
Red alert, CIA has infiltrated the Steering Committee:

Hopefully this reaches people on the ground in NYC.
Yes it seems that way, but unfortunately the Tea Party was taken over by radicals who were more concerned about keeping their guns and not having Obama as president in the end.
Also Sarah Palin started to affiliate herself with them.
So hopefully, the 99% will keep their sense and not let this wonderful demonstration of human spirit go down the drain as well...
Radicals? So Michael Moore's endorsement is okay while Palin's endorsement to the Tea Party makes that movement off kilter?
