Citizens are urged to watch and listen to free videos and music of pro-freedom anti-police state bands. Music can and should be an important force for change.

Example Scott X and the Constitution Commandos:

Everybody should grow their own music, locally. Support your local organic musicians.

Tired of Sh*t music?? I'm down for that.

Well Apple is certainly gouging both its customers and its artists... but you're seriously complaining about ticket prices?

Those go almost exclusively to the artist and are happily paid by the people who WANT to support those artists.

Why you want to dick over the artists you love man? If I want to give $20 to an artist because I'd like to see them live and because they've given me hundreds of dollars worth of enjoyment via their art how does that make the artist greedy for accepting it?...

[-] 1 points by WeTehPeople (6) 13 years ago

I don't think he is talking about artists where the tickets cost $20. I've scene plenty of them around here selling for over $50 for horrible seats. That is price gouging.

oh - so you support the 1% if you like their product ?

[-] 1 points by tehm (32) from Knoxville, TN 13 years ago

What makes you think any of the artists I support are in the 1%? I think Coulton is probably the richest of any of them and he's probably only worth about 1/2 a mil. I'd have to look at the numbers but I'm pretty sure that's not quite enough to tip him into that bracket.

Even if it were though I think you're forgetting that we aren't necessarily "against the 1%" so much as we are "for the 99%".

I don't hate Warren Buffet. He does a lot of good things. I'd love to do a one time tax of 50% of his (and anyone else/any other company with over a few hundred million of net worth) wealth to help pay off the national debt but it's certainly not out of a feeling of ill will or anything.

If for some reason an artist I liked happened to have a couple hundred mil sitting around I'd be happy to apply the 50% tax to them as well...

oh - so you are selective ab out the 1% then? maybe you (or this movement) shouldnt steriotype the 1% then ?

[-] 1 points by tehm (32) from Knoxville, TN 13 years ago

How is that being selective? Again I love Warren Buffet. It doesn't mean I wouldn't happily redistribute 1/2 of his wealth today.

I think what you are failing to get at here is that 1% of the American population posesses more wealth than the bottom 90% possess COMBINED.

To look at it another way, if you performed a one time tax of 3% of the wealth of the top 1% and gave it to the bottom 50% it would instantly DOUBLE the net wealth of the bottom 50%.

I, however, am not advocating for that. I'm saying go ahead and make it an even 50% and see how much of the national debt we can pay off tomorrow.

so you do lke some 1% ers?

[-] 1 points by tehm (32) from Knoxville, TN 13 years ago

Honestly? I doubt I've ever personally met any of them...

That said I don't DISLIKE anyone simply because of the amount of money they have. (There are some that have publically admitted to doing things so shady they ought to be executed for it and I certainly dislike them...) I might redistribute their wealth in a second but that's only because I can do the math, not out of hatred or dislike.

[-] 0 points by figero (661) 13 years ago

if youve been to the doctor youve probably met a 1%er 347K and up is the 1%

[-] 0 points by figero (661) 13 years ago

I dont know - do any of them earn over $347,000 per year ?

[-] 1 points by tehm (32) from Knoxville, TN 13 years ago

I can't imagine so. I was more concerned about being in the 1% via savings as I know he has a fair bit from his former job + donations via his website. He doesn't "sell music" per se since everything is released under creative commons, but people are certainly encouraged to donate if they like his songs and a large number do (me amongst them).

[-] 0 points by figero (661) 13 years ago

I am talking about all musicians that earn over $347,000.00 per year. off with their heads same as the bankers?

[-] 1 points by tehm (32) from Knoxville, TN 13 years ago

I think you are mistaking a dislike for people who have publically admitted to performing acts that should be considered treasonous (and yes therefor SHOULD require execution) for a dislike of people who happen to have a certain amount of wealth.

Just because redistribution of wealth is currently a necessity in order to keep our economy going doesn't mean it has to be punitive or done out of a "hatred" of the rich.

[-] 0 points by figero (661) 13 years ago

what are you talking about? big rock bands and the like are top 1% same as bankers, athletes etc. hollywood
