Occupy Sacramento CA emergency! We might be getting evicted at 11 pm tonight and need bodies to help prevent this! We are occupying Cesar Chavez Park on Jst and 10th. There is a city council meeting tonight at 6pm that will be deciding this issue. This is a call out to all the surrounding Occupations! Anyone Who can come down to help occupy and increase our numbers will help us hold this ground. Please help! Please re-post on all occupy forums and social media sites!

What do you think about creating a forum called Occupy Sacramento News or something like that

This has become obsolete, You might be able to create a model for the other sites to copy. It would be nice to get an update once in a while. I know some people in Sacramento who claim the are going to the next event.

If you do that please let me give me the link

I just want to add, your efforts are very much appreciated. Not to many people have the courage to be on the front line. Thanks

Maybe you can turn "Occupy Sacramento" into "Recall Kevin Johnson"..

Contact him on Twitter to express your dissatisfaction:

http://twitter.com/#!/KJ_MayorJohnson

Also, contact the Sacramento Democratic Party and let them know that if they let you get thrown off the curb, their asses will be thrown to the curb next June.

ha ha ha, yeah he was pretty much a jerk last night. And sorry but democrats are welcome, but we don't need their "party" support. More were arrested and we still came back this morning!

[-] 1 points by TLydon007 (1278) 13 years ago

YOU may not need "party" support, but his ass does. I'm pretty sure there are enough registered democrats at the protests that you can easily throw every incumbent out during the next primaries for not protecting your right to peacefully protest. It's not like you're actually asking for them to "support" the movement. You're just demanding that they either recognize your right to peacefully assemble and protest or you'll throw their asses to the curb.

Oh, I'm pretty sure he's out next election. Not very popular with regular people, just big money. Huge disappointment as a Mayor in general. The movement may not be political, but I sure we're all going to vote next election!

I wish you guys the best of luck!! I'd totally be down to help your cause if I wasn't on the other side of america lol

I'm confused why eviction from one area would cause a huge issue. Just go to another. If you get evicted from that one, go to another, and another, and another. Let them try and stop that!

Thank you! We're trying to work out ride shares right now! And we're sending delegations out to surrounding Occupations in Davis, Oakland, SF, Berkeley to speak to their general assemblies. We need all the help we can get.

[-] 1 points by Democracydriven (658) 13 years ago

How did it work out?

[-] 1 points by mrflibls (15) 13 years ago

City Council lied and put off their decision, yet again! We got bodies from Davis, a town next to us, and sent delegations to the Bay area but Occupy Oakland's second camp was also being raided so they couldn't send anyone to help as they needed the bodies themselves. Many sat in solidarity with those willing to be arrested here's our livestream: http://www.ustream.tv/channel/dummey#utm_campaign=occupysac.com&utm_source=9473362&utm_medium=social

Their is a good side to this. every time you get jacked around it creates more awareness

[-] 1 points by TonyLanni (291) 13 years ago

Just designate a secondary backup spot to go if you get evicted from one. We all know how slow the government works, it will take them awhile to evict you from the second, and by then you can have a third or go back to the first. This way you won't have to keep overreacting every time they might evict you. after awhile, if you keep overreacting every time, you will start to lose the bodies you need.

Thanks for the suggestion, but I visited Occupy Oakland last night to gather bodies for this protest and I was completely stunned by their success at horizontal organization and the amount of participation they had on committees and in the General Assembly. Their main advice for us was to hold our ground, to not ask for our 1st amendment rights but to OWN our 1st amendment rights. Sacramento has a major homelessness problem and that is why they don't want to allow the ordinance to be lifted, they are afraid that a particular advocacy group in our city will use the same argument to allow the homeless to sleep their regularly. And I say let them! It is the same argument! The city wants hide its problems, shove them to "some other" park, so that "the paying public" does not have to see what is going on (we're the capital so we get a ton of tourists, this location was picked for its access to city hall, state capital, and major bank headquarters which are suspiciously all on the same street, ie "capital mall"). This movement is about awakening the public to corruption and greed, its about separating money and government so that the government will once again represent the people. I agree that our protests need to be creative....don't worry, we're working on it! :D Thanks for the support everyone!

always good to have a backup plan, though. ;)

[-] 0 points by NotOccupying (94) 13 years ago

Go home and let the city have their park back.

[-] 1 points by mrflibls (15) 13 years ago

It's our city, it's our park. We want it back.

[-] 1 points by NotOccupying (94) 13 years ago

Then bring your children there to play on the weekends like civilized people but stop living there like a bunch of animals.

[-] 1 points by mrflibls (15) 13 years ago

Well, maybe you should come down and see all the families with their children for your self my friend. And I don't judge other's choices, but I shower regularly and spend my days in school, work, and democratic action. I'm not talking bad about animals, but I haven't seen any do all that. Where do you live in a Dr. Suess Book? :D

[-] -1 points by goeib1 (163) 13 years ago

but you are the 99%.... you are a massive undying "movement"... you have right on your side... :/... go home

[-] 1 points by mrflibls (15) 13 years ago

And oh my goodness! We're still at the park! Oh, and the farmers market that's held there every weds supports us! Oh, local public opinion continues to rise! Ya, I think I'll stick around at the park.

[-] -1 points by monahan (272) 13 years ago

Good I hope the cops beat the shit out of you communist revolutionarys.

[-] 1 points by mrflibls (15) 13 years ago

I hope that you let go of all your hate so that you can find peace. Good luck

[-] 1 points by monahan (272) 13 years ago

Throw the unions out of your movement and I'll join you in peace

[-] 1 points by mrflibls (15) 13 years ago

We cannot deny anyone who remains peaceful. We do not support Unions, if they want to support us they can put aside their corruption just like everyone else. If they don't like that they don't have to join. Have you gone down to your local Occupation and talked to anyone yet? I think you'll find that they do not accept corruption from corporations or from unions. Any organization that abuses hard working people for political or monetary gain are immoral. You should share your voice!

[-] 1 points by monahan (272) 13 years ago

Yes I've been to zucotti where union hats have thier own display table the occupiers money is in a union bank and supplies are kept in a union building

[-] 1 points by mrflibls (15) 13 years ago

Have you voiced this at General Assembly? I cannot speak for OWS but we at Occupy Sac do not keep donations in a union bank. We debated and debated, some didn't even want to take money at all as it might hurt our cause, we settled on a local credit union and on refusing donations over $200 and actively encouraging participation, food, supplies etc. over money donations. Only after all thoughts were considered were these decisions made. I spoke on it as did anyone else who wanted to. The major thing about direct democracy is that it's hard work and it requires intense participation. I understand your frustration with the unions, I too believe that they have become just as corrupt as others. I hope that you feel comfortable going to an Occupation and bringing up this issue for discussion it's very valid.

[-] 1 points by monahan (272) 13 years ago

They already threatened to mace me for speaking out against the unions

[-] 1 points by mrflibls (15) 13 years ago

I think that's unfortunate because this movement is nonviolent.

[-] 1 points by monahan (272) 13 years ago

It's not in ny

[-] 1 points by mrflibls (15) 13 years ago

Well, I haven't been there myself, but I suspect, as in the SF and Oakland Occupies, police and protestor relations are not as cordial and thus many are on edge. I guess I'd say if you really feel threatened but want to continue to be involved, try a different one. Otherwise go back and try talking to people again. Good luck! I for one am nonviolent!
