My name is Rob and I am a university student in New York. I have actually ventured down to Zucotti Park on a number of occasions to better understand the #ows movement.
I was wondering if someone would mind outlining the objectives of the #ows movement for me...
I don't know much about the OWS movement other than the basic principles, which I agree with. But I'll be honest, I haven't heard many tangible demands, especially after reading that link that CentristFiasco posted. Maybe this is too obvious, but why don't you guys ask for the bank bail-outs (http://www.youtube.com/user/CoreyOgilvie#p/a/u/0/-o9BBNUBs1w) to be reversed? That's tax-payers money that went directly into the hands of "the 1%".
sigh...
If you want to know the demands that we agreed on, check out our declaration: http://www.scribd.com/doc/73304557/Declaration-of-Independence-for-the-Occupy-Movement
@CF - Another question I was curious about whilst reading the Declaration was how do we propose we go about achieving the 9 goals outlined?
In an ideal world peace, economic justice, etc would be a great feat to pull off, however how do we get to that point from the current situation we are in?
Would you mind explaining how this list of demands came about? -Was it the product of brainstorms at the protests? -Are we seeing some leaders emerge in this movement? -How were they agreed upon? I know this seems like a lot to ask, but I am extremely curious.
The list of demands came about after researching what the overall view of the protesters are, we all in favor of social democracy. In a sense, we all like Socialism and we all like Capitalism but we don't like how manipulated it can be due to the fact the Constitution doesn't prohibit the things politicians do in this age. This is why the main goal that I listed in this declaration is to demand a Constitutional Convention for a new constitution. I thought it was obvious on where I was going when I said, "practical demands" and then suddenly put the last sentence there as our main goal. We all want a new constitution and this is prevalent throughout the country.

The objectives of OWS are to spread communist ideas. Many of them are naive young fools who don't know better. Spurred on behind the strings by socialists and commies who want to spread their poisonous ideas.
Please try to keep all comments constructive...the whole point of this forum is to come out of it with something tangible instead of wasting all of our time with useless criticism of others beliefs.
You OWSers are communists and enemies of freedom. You are a disgrace to America and are embarrassing yourselves and our country.

Shove it. This is a constructive comment. I'm not going to stand here idle while you miserable rodents spread your communism. We are not a communist country and NEVER will be. Give it up. I will fight to the death to prevent the spread of communism, which is what you enemies of our country are attempting with this garbage.
People are getting pissed off at you. The first objective is not to get the shit kicked out of you for blocking their way to work. "You have two seconds to get out of my way before you will need to call mommy to come get you"
Why didn't you ask them when you were down there? This is like somebody returning from a trip to Florida going on a travel forum to ask what Florida is like. Very weird.
Please don't misunderstand....not taking a position on the movement...I went down and asked the question and I got a wide array of responses: some were there to fight for our first amendment rights, others were there speaking out against wall street greed, and I also met a number of bankers who were protesting the protesters.
My goal in posting on this forum is to figure out what is at the crux of the movement itself.
The ultimate hope is to bring it back to my campus, but I can't do so until I understand what exactly the goals are.
To destroy fascism, the modern form of which is globalist corporatism. To prevent the coming worldwide police state.
Var--can you suggest any specific reforms or actions that you want instituted as a result of the #ows protests to achieve your goal?
I was just wondering if you could make a clear outline of how you hope the occupy movement will instigate that change.
Occupy is about raising awareness, building unity and exposing the police state. Concrete actions involve using financial warfare techniques. The #1 thing you can do now is, remove your money from big banks and put it in credit unions. The #2 thing is, buy silver to crash JP Morgan.
