I just came from Thomas Square Park. I saw about 50 people gathered and no less than 20 something police vehicles surrounding the perimeter of the park and ALL their police lights were on. It looked like a carnival. I could see the police lights from about 8 blocks away as I approached. I saw the protesters gathered at one of the corners of the park, they were not allowed to enter the park. I did not get arrested because as I approached I "smelled" the arrests coming. I've lived here for 20+ years, so I know the difference between local pigs and good police officers - there were a few too many local pigs there tonight for my taste, so i thought I should watch from a distance. the police station is only 1 block away from this park. I had to move along eventually, i went to a friend's house, then about 1 hour later I returned to find the park empty, I saw the news online that 8 to 15 people were arrested. I saw pictures of them in the local news websites, I know many of them by name from the last protest when we walked through Waikiki.

The park has posted hours and it is closed to the public after 10PM. The homeless in Honolulu are a serious problem. They are being kicked out of all the public parks, they have tents that take up entire street blocks on the sidewalks right in from of the public park, because the cops kick them out. The Occupy Honolulu protesters tonight were not only protesting the world-wide corruption, but also specifically the treatment of homeless people and the increase in the working homeless in Hawaii.

Good. The law shouldn't bend to accommodate this nonsense.

Why do I even waste my time with a fucktard like you!

Right, it shouldn't have to bend because the law shouldn't be prohibiting the peaceful gathering of people at a public park to begin with.

If it closes at 10, try leaving at 10. Easy fix.

That law was passed recently in order to give the police authority to arrest homeless people in the parks. So fuck off, happy!

Good. I'm glad to see the city taking action. These parks were not built for camping. Find a campground to occupy overnight. Keep the vagrants and scumbags out of the parks at night! Get out.
