Dear occupy protesters; Stop crying, get a Job, Contribute to your community, fight your percieved injustice by using our system.... vote out lazy incumbents (keep doing this untill your rep. affects the system in a meaningful way, they will then be job fearing and will listen to the people) Marxism and socialism are failed and the leaders of it will lie to you..... (example .. Russia... those poor people are hating life) Nothing in life will EVER be fair, WORK TO MAKE YOUR LIFE BETTER
Its not about work ethic, there is grave injustice being committed at the hands of Wall Street to almost anyone in the 99.9%
There are no JOBS. cant you people get that through your head
I am an independent contractor. I decided one day that I was in business for myself. At that point, I created 1 job. It didn't pay much at the time, I was 25 years old and just married, but 20 years later, I make a respectable income.
Make your own jobs!!!
I'm sure I make much more than you do, and I built my company from nothing as well. That doesn't mean that there isn't a huge wealth drain destroying our world called finance.
Never said there wasn't. I'm just saying that anyone who says there are "no jobs" needs to create one for themselves instead waiting for someone else to hand them one.
i see.. you think there is room for 14 million independent contractors. wouldnt that put you outa business?
As a matter of fact, I do think that. I program computers. Other people build houses, fix furnaces, are consultants, chemists, etc... Just hang your shingle, advertise, and work for next to nothing until you prove yourself as invaluable and then raise your prices. The American Dream at work!
They don't get it because they have nice cozy jobs and homes. The trolls sent in here are all like that. They lack empathy or compassion for others. In fact they come here to scold and lecture.
North Dakota has a ton of jobs. It is very hard work but it also pays well.
Get off your high horse and do some dirty work.
ive done the dirtiest work you could ever dream up. i just hope your company shuts down this next year.
I'm sorry you have been blinded by your own Greed and the System of Greed you live in. I hope things improve for you.
WORK TO MAKE YOUR LIFE BETTER:
that's exactly what we're doing.
Not accomplishing anything sounds like the best job ever. No wonder this stuff is catching on.
Lol we have been using that exact same system you have proposed for 30 years and look at where we are at now dipshit!
Damanthure, you have been misinformed about the very nature of these protests. I don't know if you will listen, but there is something you need to know:
The Occupy protesters are good, hardworking Americans who love their country, who want to support themselves, and probably a lot of them have been doing that.
But something ugly and wrong is happening to our country. It is being taken over by global corporations who have bought and paid for BOTH political parties. The people are no longer represented in our government. Only the interests of multi-national corporations.
You should be grateful to the Occupy protesters for standing up for your rights!
I have a GREAT job with a one of the largest corporations in the United States (over 300k employees). We are exponentially moving jobs to India so the corporation can show max quarterly earnings which is the nature of the beast. Being a manager at a company that received TARP funds coming in from US tax dollars, I have made it my mission to do what I can "internally" to oppose this slap in the face to the all citizens of the United States. US company; bailed out by US tax dollars and they have the ability to send jobs to India is criminal! I have no loyalty to this company but only remain cause jobs are not available. I understand folks who are brainwashed by the media - you will disagree but you are stuck just where they want you. You will wake up after the American Revolution (this started the day Occupy came online) brings back community and the ability for all to have a fair shake within the limits of our resources. I will standby my fellow citizens and do my part!
I would like to see the Occupy movement start impacting this corporations where it hurts. Their bottom line. Understand, the basic corporate agenda (nature of this beast) is max profit at all costs! They will always do EVERYTHING in there power to make that extra buck for the folks at the very top. That is all that matters to them no matter what you hear or read.
Imagine every branch of a TARP funded bank becomes occupied by the people. If you bank with any financial institution that outsources close your accounts and move to a local credit union. Do it inside the branch. They will try to keep you and ask why your are no longer desiring to do business with them. Just tell them because they outsource jobs and care more about $$ over protecting the United States (not the government but the People). Just imagine if we get a million people to do this.
Understand the power has always been in the people. We just need to exercise it wisely and hit their bottom line. They will change to bring the biz back.
Thanks to all who are standing up and being strong as the social economic revolution of the United States begins!
Hey folks,
Damanthure threw his molotov cocktail and left the building. Stop taking the bait.
Your a dick head.
There is no system.
If you are not part of the 1% then you are part of the 99%.
Therefore by saying "we are the 99%" they are actually speaking the truth. I do not believe that everyone in this group feels that they speak for the rest of the 99%, when in all actuality the statement truely means:
"We are NOT the 1%."
Very well said! Plus the 99% would ACTUALLY represent many different political views, religions, cultures, races, belief systems, ages, income levels, etc., DUH! That's why we're the 99% & TIRED of being SCREWED!

I don't see anyone crying. I see people who have been looking for jobs for months or years. If you have a job, you are not one of the unlucky ones who, despite working incredibly hard and long hours, got caught up in a downsizing. Who says they want Marxism? How about just a system that our founding fathers wanted, a system that fairly rewards hard work? That distributes wealth to all those who work 40 hours and not unjustly to those who have gamed the system to get more than their fair share?
You said distribute wealth.
Before the banksters crashed the economy most of the current unemployed were employed, so that shows they are willing to work. You do realize there are fewer jobs now.
Amen, Brother!
As much as people claim, they don't want to work. They want to be paid $250,000 for working a cash register. They also shouldn't use 99%. They do not represent me. Just like certain people think they represent the black community. Do not speak for me! You cannot generalize and expect people to not get angry.
I will agree that people tend to pretend to speak for everyone else, however, I do not agree that people would be unhappy having to continue to go to work if given a $3.00 raise.
Going to work is to trade your time for money in which you can trade your money for the things you want and need. Work is simply the time you have to spend in order to thrive/survive in the time you choose to spend.
Agreed that a lot of people have it backwards and look at work as the time they choose to spend in order to better enjoy the time they have to spend at home, however, knowing that I got paid $100 today at work and made the company I work for $375,000.00 does make my hourly rate seem rediculous.
Have you ever done the math for what they do with all that money? Sure, they pay CEOs and such, but they pay a lot of taxes, fees, production costs, lawyers, and other workers' salaries. The money the CEOs make go back into the economy when they buy their BMWs and Lincolns. They could take less but where would that excess money go? Congress? Oh, hell no!
Actually, yes I have. I keep updated on what my company "profits", after paying the execs. And then I see that money go to "shareholders" who's only contribution to the company was choosing to keep some of their money invested in it.
To think that the money that the CEO makes goes back into the economy is only true to the little that that CEO buys. The rest is kept in a bank, which means that the money is no longer available to anyone else. Therefore the Federal Reserve either has to print more money (prices go up due to inflation and CEO gets even bigger paycheck) or the government has to find more reasons to tax. Repeated over and over and the dollar is no longer the strongest currency.
Oh, wait... That already happened. What's next? Have you done the math?
That excess money goes to the employees that work and earn the money for the company.
Nothing wrong with shareholders. It's a form business, usually corporations. If the CEOs took a pay cut, what makes you think that excess money would be used for what it should? And no one tells you about what you do with your money. Don't you save? You can twist anything anyway you want but it's not going to help. As for the dollar, I know. They should have never stopped using gold as its basis.
Shareholders make money with the stocks raising. Plus they get dividends with the excess money. It's like a commission.
It's actually the 9:1 ratio of lending that has us screwed. Banks are allowed to loan out 9 theoretical dollars (digital money) for every 1 dollar they actually have. They ended up loaning out more money to citizens than the country actually had.
That I don't agree with. Whoever came up with that idea must have seen that coming.
Most great disasters in history are due to intelligent people not accounting for things that should have been obvious.
True. But other people checked. None of them saw it?
If I can see it, and you can see it, then I'm sure someone within the system saw it is well.
The question would be... why have they continued to set it up? Loaning out to people who didn't qualify? Taking everyone's gold away from them (at discount prices but an instant check)?
You think that the wealthy are ONLY tied to America? China takes any and all gold available as soon as it becomes available. Usually at a few percentage points above market value. Why?
Are you asking me or just asking? If you're asking me, I don't know.
They'd take any chance to become he new world power. It fits their mentality.
I'm not asking you to "know", I'm asking your thoughts.
Don't fall for this psychological crap from any one percent goon. It's an obvious attempt to discredit our cause or divert our attention from the obscene, unjust, immoral, and illogical concentration of wealth. Donald Trump went on record the other day telling us to blame the government instead of Wall Street and the richest one percent. Other well known public figures are trying to stereotype all of us as lazy entitlement junkies without a brain or spine among us. Their goons are obviously online and on air trying to break our will. Don't fall for any of it. Just follow the law and keep protesting no matter what the one percent goons say or do. Our message is vital. Below is my two cents:
We have been mislead by Reagan, Bush Sr, Clinton, Bush Jr, Obama, and nearly every other public figure. Economic growth, job creation, and actual prosperity are not necessarily a package deal. In fact, the first two are horribly misunderstood. Economic growth/loss (GDP) is little more than a measure of domestic wealth changing hands. A transfer of currency from one party to another. The rate at which it is traded. This was up until mid ’07′ however, has never been a measure of actual prosperity. Neither has job creation. The phrase itself has been thrown around so often, and in such a generic political manner, that it has come to mean nothing. Of course, we need to have certain things done for the benefit of society as a whole. We need farmers, builders, manufacturers, transporters, teachers, cops, firefighters, soldiers, mechanics, sanitation workers, doctors, managers, and visionaries. Their work is vital. I’ll even go out on a limb and say that we need politicians, attorneys, bankers, investors, and entertainers. In order to keep them productive, we must provide reasonable incentives. We need to compensate each by a fair measure for their actual contributions to society. We need to provide a reasonable scale of income opportunity for every independent adult, every provider, and share responsibility for those who have a legitimate need for aid. In order to achieve and sustain this, we must also address the cost of living and the distribution of wealth. Here, we have failed miserably. The majority have already lost their home equity, their financial security, and their relative buying power. The middle class have actually lost much of their ability to make ends meet, re-pay loans, pay taxes, and support their own economy. The lower class have gone nearly bankrupt. In all, its a multi-trillion dollar loss taken over about 30 years. Millions are under the impression that we need to create more jobs simply to provide more opportunity. as if that would solve the problem. It won’t. Not by a longshot. Jobs don’t necessarily create wealth. In fact, they almost never do. For the mostpart, they only transfer wealth from one party to another. A gain here. A loss there. Appreciation in one community. Depreciation in another. In order to create net wealth, you must harvest a new resource or make more efficient use of one. Either way you must have a reliable and ethical system in place to distribute that newly created wealth in order to benefit society as a whole and prevent a lagging downside. The ‘free market’ just doesn’t cut it. Its a farce. Many of the jobs created are nothing but filler. The promises empty. Sure, unemployment reached an all-time low under Bush. GDP reached an all-time high. But those are both shallow and misleading indicators. In order to gauge actual prosperity, you must consider the economy in human terms. As of ’08′ the average American was working more hours than the previous generation with far less equity to show for it. Consumer debt, forclosure, and bankruptcy were also at all-time highs. As of ’08′, every major American city was riddled with depressed communities, neglected neighborhoods, failing infrastructures, lost revenue, and gang activity. All of this has coincided with massive economic growth and job creation. Meanwhile, the rich have been getting richer and richer and richer even after taxes. Our nation’s wealth has been concentrated. Again, this represents a multi-trillion dollar loss taken by the majority. Its an absolute deal breaker. Bottom line: With or without economic growth or job creation, you must have a system in place to prevent too much wealth from being concentrated at the top. Unfortunately, we don’t. Our economy has become nothing but a giant game of Monopoly. The richest one percent of Americans already own nearly 1/2 of all US wealth. An all-time high. More than double their share before Reagan took office. The lower 90 percent of Americans own less than 10 percent of all US wealth. An all-time low. Still, the rich want more. They absolutely will not stop. Now, our society as a whole is in serious jeapordy. Greed kills.
