Here is the recent article from The Nation on the demonstration. It would be nice if the New York studios were picketed by knowledgeable individuals 24 hours a day.

Anyway, here is the link:

Why educate them. I don't want to let them in on our secret that the whole world is laughing at their stupid, disconnected, backward ass.

The more they talk about the birther issue, denial of global warming and describing the Occupy Movement is just some dirty hippie mobs, the more they trivialize themselves and the GOPs.

I'm in Kansas City and the rest of America needs to see clean cut, smart, and respectful citizens annoying the crap out of Fox news on their New York doorstep.

Annoy them, yes. Educate them, no.

Hundreds Gather to Protest Outside News Corp. Shareholders’ Meeting in L.A.

Date: October 21, 2011

LOS ANGELES -- On Friday, hundreds of people gathered on the street outside News Corp.’s annual shareholders’ meeting to protest the media giant, which has been embroiled in a scandal over allegations of widespread phone hacking, bribery and extortion.

The loose affiliation of groups that demonstrated on Friday -- including Common Cause, OccupyLA, Free Press,

Avaaz.org, Change to Win, Good Jobs LA, Brave New Foundation, National Lawyers Guild and others -- demanded that News Corp. shareholders make company executives and the board accountable to U.S. law and the public interest. The groups are also asking the News Corp. board to pledge that the company will refrain from any additional political spending on the 2012 elections.

“Under Rupert Murdoch, News Corp. has accumulated toxic levels of media power,” said Timothy Karr, Free Press campaign director. “It has leveraged this news and entertainment empire to bully regulators, undermine the public interest and pollute the democratic process in America. We demand that Congress immediately hold hearings and convene an investigation into allegations that News Corp. broke several U.S. laws.”

Bob Edgar, president of Common Cause, said, “Corporations shouldn’t be able to drown out the voices of American families by using their profits to push for regulations that make them richer, but hurt the rest of us. The corrupting influence of special interest money already impairs our government’s ability to address our nation’s most critical problems. We cannot continue down this path.”

Rupert Murdoch and News Corp are the epitome of what the 99% are protesting: an unaccountable corporation that manipulates the political process while seeking to enrich itself at the expense of the public that it is failing to serve. And as a media enterprise they also contribute to the disinformation and divisiveness that is tearing this country apart.

But remember, there is another 99% in America. That is the 99% of the nation that does not watch Fox News. The highest rated program on Fox (The O’Reilly Factor) pulls in about 1% of the population. That’s about half the audience of the lowest rated broadcast network news program (CBS Evening news). NBC’s Nightly News draws four times the viewers of Fox. Yet Fox deftly uses their platform to exult themselves and shout down everyone else.

After taking the Tea Party under their wing and promoting it incessantly, Fox now regards protesters as ignorant, smelly, and unpatriotic. Their overt hostility to the majority of citizens who want economic and social justice is fraught with lies and riddled with childish insults that cater to the diminished IQ of their viewers.

"Why of course the people don't want war... That is understood. But, after all, it is the leaders of the country who determine the policy and it is always a simple matter to drag the people along, whether it is a democracy, or a fascist dictatorship, or a parliament, or a communist dictatorship. Voice or no voice, the people can always be brought to the bidding of the leaders. That is easy. All you have to do is tell them they are being attacked, and denounce the peacemakers for lack of patriotism and exposing the country to danger. It works the same in any country."

The publication "The Nation" is run by a bitch who is fabulously wealthy.

She married a man who was very rich and he bought 'The Nation' for her so she could play "pretend socialist".

Katrina lives in the wealthiest of surroundings of anyone on this planet. She attends all of the most "elite" social gatherings and parties.

Her lifestyle is more 1% than many of the 1%'ers.

Katrina is one of the wealthiest women in NY, and if you think she is going to give any of it up to join the ranks of the "lower class", you are completely deluded.

It is fun being a Park Avenue socialist when you never have to give up the caviar and champagne.

Name some poor people who own their own magazine.

Name some people with incomes under 100K who own their own magazine.

Thought so. Holding us to a standard of purity that can't be met so you can invalidate what we're saying is just a diversion.

If you want to defend Fox, then do so, but use an actual argument instead of blowing smoke.

And btw, Katrina Vanden Heuvel may be part owner of The Nation but she's still no Rupert Murdoch.

MURDOCH OUT!

Again you're missing the point of this movement. We are not opposing all people who are wealthy. We are opposing the wealthy people who are using their wealth to further oppress the people. We need good people of means to help the movement to counter balance the destructive powers of the Koch Brothers, and the Murdochs of this world.

Do you think that her hobby is currently beneficial or harmful to the plight of ordinary Americans? If she funds true investigative journalism, I don't care if she's a trust fund baby married to an medieval baron.
