Forum Post: Occupiers to Volunteer their time

I think it would be great for PR and a good use of time if occupiers would volunteer their time. There are many organizations that offer opportunities that range from a one time event to long-term commitments that ask for a few hours a week. One organization I have in mind is Habitat for Humanity. If an "occupy" group joins forces with the Habitat in their community the extra people could possibly double the amount of homes that can be built for those in need. Of course, monetary donations can be made in the name of OWS too.

With many media outlets attempting to portray occupiers as lazy and entitled, a move like this would help to prove them wrong. Also, it shows solidarity with the community and support for those in need. I've found the best way to learn about volunteer opportunities is to contact the local United Way; I was given a booklet of organizations looking for volunteer help ranging in time commitment and activities.
