There are a lot of funds going to the Occupy movement - the best solution would be for people who want to to use these facilities, but use donations to compensate any costs, and of course to clear out if there would be any shortage for the genuinely needy. But contact between ordinary citizens and facilities like this should have considerable educational value in opposing the dehumanization of the homeless.

This seems like a good idea. In exchange for a shower, tip the shelter 5 bucks. If they give you a meal, then give them another 5 bucks.

Of course the fact that the shelter may still run out of food to feed the homeless on any given evening is beside the point. The homeless may still be hungry but at least the occupier would have paid $5 to ease his conscious. Amazing how the occupiers look down on the less fortunate.

As an OWS supporter, I find the actions of these people disgusting.

What is your problem? Are you troubled by poor & homeless having the right to be occupiers? This is a 99% movement, you cannot expect young and smarts with laptops in every tent.

What are you talking about? I was saying that the occupiers taking advantage of a homeless shelter was disgusting...

Not sure who Julianz was directed that toward.
