I propose we make a new political party called Occupier. We can win the next election!

I know they take money from 501 (c)s...but it's only 20 million compared to Obama's projected 1 billion. Isn't it worth giving it a chance? It could at least allow for some better access to politics...a place where we can feasibly be in a REAL position to reform the laws.

Man, I don't want to be labeled or to be a part of any political party. I'm a human being, the rest is all games that has little to do with reality if you really think about it.

Please watch this video, I think it's important for all of us to see: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TX1N3opw5eI

No. Just no. The moment the Movement endorses a politician it starts to force out some of our members who might have different ideologies. We are leaderless because we're all leaders in this. Make up your own mind on who to vote for. You don't need a group telling you.

I like that we're not endorsing a political party. However, there is a problem with this...it leaves us sort of option-less. You can't change laws without delegates to make new ones and/or repeal old ones. I don't see the harm in encouraging people to vote for a party which is in line with our goals so we can at least get the ball rolling on reform. For example, the Green party says this:

  1. We propose comprehensive campaign finance reform, including caps on spending and contributions, at the national and state level; and / or full public financing of elections to remove undue influence in political campaigns.

  2. All viable candidates at the state and federal levels should have free and equal radio and television time and print press coverage.

  3. We will work to ban or greatly limit political action committees and restrict soft money contributions.

  4. We support significant lobbying regulation such as strict rules that disclose the extent of political lobbying via "gifts" and contributions. Broad-based reforms of government operations, with congressional reorganization and ethics laws, must be instituted. At every level of government, we support Sunshine Laws that open up the political system to access by ordinary citizens.

This sounds plenty different from the Dems and Reps.

I know a few people who support those things but would never endorse/support the Green Party. What would be better would be for the Green Party to endorse us.

Then how do you propose we take back offer don't take back positions of power? Are we to let the same people legislate this movements demands? I think it is time we really consider the idea of creating a party. But the party should be geared to more local communities. This way urban areas(who tend to be more progressive) rural areas (who tend to be more conservative) and suburban (usually a hodgepodge leading to a moderate position) can control the own destinies ad the won't be overwhelmed with the political diverseness of the party. All the party has to do is actively promote, ad when in office, DO what the majority of that community tells you to do. The other parties act like they are the boss of the people. Our party should let the people know they are our boss and we will only o what the majority of our community wants. Even if it is against our own personal beliefs. This is the oath our party is sworn to uphold forgets American people.

Members of the OWS can only agree on less than a handful of things. A political party's platform is bigger than that. The moment you put forth an agenda you're going to disenfranchise large numbers of our membership.

Right now, politicians are getting nervous. We need to encourage existing legislators on both sides of the fence to push forward stuff everyone would approve of. Many states also allow bills to be proposed by petition and be voted on by the citizens without legislators getting in the way.

We need inclusion right now more than pushing an agenda which would cause dissension.
