Forum Post: Obama: more nuclear bombs

Posted 13 years ago on Oct. 31, 2011, 7:55 p.m. EST by schrubs (74)
This content is user submitted and not an official statement

NY Times story, the Nobel peace prize president to modernize and increase the number of nuclear bombs in America to 2500 + 2600 back up bombs. Also more"bomb delivery systems" like carriers, missiles, subs and bombers. $600 Billion over 10 years. Does this get any crazier? Is there any time EVER when that number is needed? This money must go to the 99% to create jobs, save housing and lower taxes.

It's a disgrace to the Nobel peace prize that Obama won it.

[-] 2 points by schrubs (74) 13 years ago

They had no idea, like the rest of us Obama has great rhetoric but his words are hollow lies when he merely extends Bush/Republican policies, including all war, all the time. He just announced a huge troop buildup for the Middle east for the next war.

[-] 1 points by Indy4Change (254) from Columbia, SC 13 years ago

That's precisely the point - "They had no idea." The mere fact that they awarded that knucklehead with the NPP BEFORE he ever proved he deserved it speaks volumes to the irrelevancy of the award.

[-] 1 points by MyHeartSpits (448) 13 years ago

Actually, it was a brilliant move. It makes Obama that much more of an absurd figure and an obvious liar. I'm glad they gave it to him. If he had fulfilled his promises, great. If not, he AND OUR WARMONGERING GOVERNMENT is exposed to the world, which is exactly what's happening.

[-] 1 points by schrubs (74) 13 years ago

VG point. Think they were being PC.

[-] 1 points by GeorgeMichaelBluth (402) from Arlington, VA 13 years ago

Yeah it's reall the change we can believe in. Put slick willy back in the white house, at least his lies were fun to watch and didn't hurt anyone.......except that dress

[-] 1 points by schrubs (74) 13 years ago

Willie caused 9/11 by bombing Bin Laden's hospital in '99. Clinton said it made wmd. Wrong again. It was Bin Laden's pet project for his people. 9/11 was bin laden's revenge. Blowback bigtime.

[-] 1 points by GeorgeMichaelBluth (402) from Arlington, VA 13 years ago

Very true, I just think slick willy is a cool nickname

[-] 1 points by schrubs (74) 13 years ago

His wife did a hell of a job arranging for the Libya war.

[-] 1 points by GeorgeMichaelBluth (402) from Arlington, VA 13 years ago

I wouldn't want to take that chick on.... He must have pissed himself when he had to tell her 'little bill' found it's way into someone else......

[-] 1 points by schrubs (74) 13 years ago

They're set for life: millions pouring in, for wrecking the world.

[-] 1 points by GeorgeMichaelBluth (402) from Arlington, VA 13 years ago

Yeah but slick willy has to wake up next to her.....it's a cruel punishment, justifiable for his misdoings.......

[-] 1 points by pierpontluv (10) 13 years ago

no kidding.....that was true from day one

[-] 3 points by hchc (3297) from Tampa, FL 13 years ago

O-bomb-ya is a fascist warmongering stooge for the globalists.

What a joke. I cant believe what I see when I look back at this campaigning in 07

[-] 2 points by schrubs (74) 13 years ago

Change you can believe in? Extended and enlarged Bush policies. Owned by the military-industrial -congressional -lobbyist complex. Both parties.

[-] 2 points by yasminec001 (584) 13 years ago

"This money must go to the 99% to create jobs, save housing and lower taxes."

I agree. I believe if we take another look at our values system, and the values we place on certain incomes and products could shift around the money, maybe redistribute it to a good level all on its own. And the money we can save from these weapons and defense systems (and everything it takes to maintain them) can also go into national programs to provide well-being to all.

[-] 1 points by schrubs (74) 13 years ago

Absolutely. We can cut $1trillion and still have a strong military. There are over 1000 US bases around the world! No other country does this. Close half of them.

[-] 1 points by yasminec001 (584) 13 years ago

Wow, that's excessive. Agreed. However, the big and powerful of this country won't easily give up their defenses since they fear that others want what they have (or want to hurt them).

[-] 2 points by schrubs (74) 13 years ago

It's all money driven. Win or lose they don't care. Just keep the wars and money flowing.

[-] 1 points by yasminec001 (584) 13 years ago

You know, it's a horrible thought I've always had, but I always had a feeling that 9-11 was about more than just a terrorist group angry at america.

It's just disgusting.

[-] 1 points by schrubs (74) 13 years ago

9/11 happened because in '99 Clinton bombed a hospital Bin laden made for his people. There was wrong info that it made WMD. 9/11 is revenge for Clinton's action, blowback.

[-] 1 points by bensdad (8977) 13 years ago

its always a democrats fault - their biggest sin - they let the republicans screw the country

[-] 1 points by schrubs (74) 13 years ago

And who started the iraq war on the wrong info it had WMD and caused 9/11?

[-] 1 points by yasminec001 (584) 13 years ago

Bombing a hospital is going too far.

[-] 1 points by schrubs (74) 13 years ago

Big time. Meanwhile Clinton is a millionaire.

[-] 1 points by yasminec001 (584) 13 years ago

We seriously should take a closer look at how much value we give to certain persons' incomes and products.

[-] 1 points by schrubs (74) 13 years ago

The guilty are rewarded.

[-] 1 points by yasminec001 (584) 13 years ago

More like those who don't do any productive positive work with the earth and humankind get paid even more. Almost like we think those who truly work hard (like teachers and public service) don't deserve to get paid well for their position. Absurdity. More emphasis should be placed on the reality of our situation, and not on surreality on tv, movies, and celebrity gossip. (as well as political gossip)

[-] 1 points by schrubs (74) 13 years ago

Exactly! That's why our country is a mess.

[-] 0 points by electrictroy (282) 13 years ago

A one trillion dollar cut is not a big deal. It's the equivalent of turning the budget back to 2006 spending levels.

[-] 1 points by yasminec001 (584) 13 years ago

But it is a start. I also think we should review our value market.

How's that Hopey-Changey stuff working for ya?

[-] 2 points by thebeastchasingitstail (1912) 13 years ago

It isn't like the non-hopey-changey side has the will to do anything better or different.

Two sides of the same coin, except one side is just a little bit crueler and greedier.

The lesser of two evils is still evil.

[-] 1 points by MyHeartSpits (448) 13 years ago

How's that soundbite working out for ya? Let's have a real dialogue. There are very few here that support Obama still.

WE proudly make and sell the weapons for the world.

[-] 1 points by bensdad (8977) 13 years ago

The fundamentalist idealism of our group is blind to ( at least ) one reality. We are fighting for a new America ( and world ) but we cannot ignore the political and economic power that is in place. I am a NYer and I know NY will be for Obama. I will not vote for him. BUT if I was in a swing state, and was living in the real world - rather than an ideal world, I MUST think of how much more damage President Romney can do.

Yes, our political/economic system is broken. We can play a macho game and stamp our feet and insist our ideology is best. OR we can work within the system to elect and lobby for our goals - true patriots like Elizabeth Warren and Bernie Sanders and Alan Grayson and Sherrod Brown.

THE CAPITAL OF DEMOCRACY IS VOTES

Three organizations – AMONG MANY- NRA and AARP and Tparty have been enormously successful and powerful – by using their votes-
WE MUST TOO !

TOP OF MY ( long ) ISSUES LIST:

Constitutional amendment: Corporations are not people & Money is not free speech

An absolute minimum corporate tax of at least 20% , excluding all deductions

End Bush tax cuts for earnings over $250,000

Tax capital gains as income

Medicare for all

Select your issues & FIND YOUR REPRESENTATIVE & SENATORs CONTACT:

https://writerep.house.gov/writerep/welcome.shtml
http://www.house.gov/
http://www.senate.gov/

Then, “grass roots” your issues :

get at least 2 of your friends to also email their congressman & get them to “grass roots” this through repeated generations – till Washington is covered in grass!

The key, of course, is republicans in congress

You can use www.whitepages.com/person
to look up people & addresses & zip codes. Especially in republican districts

Important Note:

they will only pay attention to zip codes in their (House) congressional district or (Senate) state

DEMOCRACY IS FOR SALE ONLY IF YOUR INACTION ALLOWS IT !

YOUR MESSAGE IS: VOTE THE WAY I WANT ON MY ISSUES OR I WONT VOTE FOR YOU

[-] 1 points by schrubs (74) 13 years ago

Excellent. The mechanism for change exists in Congressional votes. The trick is to get your rep to vote your way. Unfortunately, the military-industrial lobbying complex bought them all.

[-] 1 points by bensdad (8977) 13 years ago

yes - they bought most of them - not bernie sanders & elizabeth warren and there are others. But if your congressman ( representing 700,000 people ) gets 70,000 letters demanding capital gains to be taxed as income or demanding that he break his grover pledge - I dont think koch can overcome that. Check out the recent AARP TV commercial.

There are a few good people left, but not enough.

[-] 1 points by reddy2 (256) 13 years ago

Who are the OWS hypocrites that will give Oblama their vote for President ?

[-] 1 points by MyHeartSpits (448) 13 years ago

Not many. Nor does it matter who wins the prize. All presidents are merely pawns of the establishment as long as money buys policy.

[-] 1 points by GeorgeMichaelBluth (402) from Arlington, VA 13 years ago

Nothing against the man personally, but you wouldn't give Kobe the husband of the year award would you?

Article states Obama yielded to Republican demands for money to the bomb factories in their states. This is job creation? Make something for the people instead!

[-] 0 points by RichardGates (1529) 13 years ago

This article has been revised to reflect the following correction:

Correction: November 1, 2011

An editorial on Sunday about the nuclear weapons budget incorrectly described the positions of the former secretaries of state, George Shultz, James Baker and Henry Kissinger. All three have endorsed the eventual goal of a world without nuclear weapons. Mr. Kissinger is not a supporter of the Global Zero campaign. Mr. Shultz and Mr. Baker have participated in Global Zero events, but have not endorsed its call for a quick, interim cut to 1,000 nuclear warheads.

[-] 2 points by schrubs (74) 13 years ago

Scum Kissinger encouraged the Vietnam War and enabled it with prick Nixon.
