Forum Post: Oath Keepers

Occupy Tampa is experiencing a heavy (covert) presence of Oath Keepers. They also have a very established, and presumably anonymous, presence in Occupy LA; I've been reading Oath Keeper forums all night and they are quite busy all over the Occupy movement. I was unaware of this group and I'm not thrilled by their presence and influence. If you aren't sure who the Oath Keepers are- look for the ones holding the Ron Paul and End the Fed signs. According to their forums, they've been sent to push the End the Fed message and silence the "socialist" leanings. They are very aggressive and confrontational. I'm interested in connecting with other Occupy sites that have experienced this and can suggest ways to handle them.

  1. We will NOT obey orders to disarm the American people.

  2. We will NOT obey orders to conduct warrantless searches of the American people

  3. We will NOT obey orders to detain American citizens as “unlawful enemy combatants” or to subject them to military tribunal.

  4. We will NOT obey orders to impose martial law or a “state of emergency” on a state.

  5. We will NOT obey orders to invade and subjugate any state that asserts its sovereignty.

  6. We will NOT obey any order to blockade American cities, thus turning them into giant concentration camps.

  7. We will NOT obey any order to force American citizens into any form of detention camps under any pretext.

  8. We will NOT obey orders to assist or support the use of any foreign troops on U.S. soil against the American people to “keep the peace” or to “maintain control."

  9. We will NOT obey any orders to confiscate the property of the American people, including food and other essential supplies.

10.We will NOT obey any orders which infringe on the right of the people to free speech, to peaceably assemble, and to petition their government for a redress of grievances.

One has to wonder who misinformed the OP about Oath Keepers. Hopefully, s/he is now set straight.

"Anonymous' presence?? There is nothing anonymous about us. We are clearly marked by our shirts and hats of which we purchased with our own hard-earned money.

Oath Keepers is non-partisan and will not be holding Ron Paul signs.

Oath Keepers is all about freedom. Nobody 'sends' Oath Keepers anywhere. We go where we are welcome, upon our own free time and of our own free will as independent and free individuals. We have been very welcome at LA. The People are hungry for solutions, and they love hearing about the U.S. Constitution. Perhaps the organizers would consider incorporating the Constitution into their agenda to help hold the attention of its attendees and encourage true democratic discourse which includes dialogue about the document which secures your individual right to protest. It seems the poster only cares to 'silence' the Constitution and this country's founding documents, yet seeks to reap the benefits of the very contract which legally binds those in power from infringing upon his or her right to free speech.

LA will not concur with your assessment of Oath Keepers. LA Occupiers have been peaceful, as have the LAPD. Oath Keepers of LA has invited retired Marines, Army veterans, Navy veterans and retired law enforcement there to protect your 1st Amendment rights. Are you willing to do the same for them? Where is your sense of social justice, 'Boredom'?

Oath Keepers has not participated in any voting at general assembly meetings. If you are concerned about the intentions of Oath Keepers at any Occupy event, please google "Marines Occupy LA" or visit OccupyTheFedNow.com or email info@LAOathKeepers.org.

If you see Oath Keepers in LA, please say, "Hello." and ask us for a free copy of the Constitution.

In Freedom.

I agree with the comments below about Oathkeepers being committed to protecting free speech and the protestors from police brutality/crackdown.

Let me ask you this: aren't the President and Congress sworn to uphold the Constitution? Why aren't they doing it?

Also, who are the Unions sworn to protect? Themselves? Because they haven't sworn to uphold the Constitution.

And they have direct orders from Stewart Rhodes to infiltrate the OWS movement and get to the younger individuals. That is what bothers me. If Ending the Fed is not what the consensus desires, are the Oath Keepers then going to peacefully leave the Occupy movement? I've done my homework. I appreciate the OKs services- our police department has many OKs among them and that makes me feel secure about occupying space. However, OKs need to leave their agenda at home. Just like the socialists and Dems and Tea Partiers do.

Bullshit. Oath Keepers isn't infiltrating anything. This movement also belongs to them as much as any other American. You should be thankful there's an organization like this that is making an issue of abuse of power by the establishment.

Ending the Fed is essential to reining in the abuses of Wall Street and the banksters. The goal here is to stop the criminality of the financial sector that is looting We the People. The Fed is the central vehicle for that looting.

Oath Keepers is a fabulous organization. It's comprised of active duty and retired military and law enforcement who have all taken an oath to never violate the rights of We the People. IOW, they have affirmed the oath to uphold and defend the constitution and not be used as tools of oppression against us. What possible argument could you have with that?! They are not "aggressive" and yes, they do want the Fed ended. So do I. The Fed is at the core of the looting of the American people and the bankster racketeering. Looks like you didn't do your homework!

Thank you! I have a lot more faith in Oathkeepers than I do in the Unions.
