we can't let this happen. BOYCOTT NPR!!!! Demand No more public funding!
Just sent NPR a letter telling them what what I thought of this. Here's a link if you want to do the same:

Thanks I just email them also. This is ridiculous
awesome, thanks!
glad i could help:)
She was fired after the NPR code of ethics was read to her, which she obviously violated. When OWS sets up a code of ethics, they will have to obeyed as well, right..??...or not...???
here's another story on this:

Talk about shooting yourself in the foot. Nice shot NPR
I was banned from the Way with Words Forum
for being a rabble rouser
The line between personal actions and professional links could be a very unclear one. For writers, it could be an especially hard line to draw. The Occupy Wall Street movement in D.C. has a new spokesperson - Lisa Simeone. Simeone, however, is also hired as an independent journalist. Source for this article: NPR host Lisa Simeone facing questions about political activism
if we boycotted every single organization that had ridiculous HR practices and were less than just, there would be a lot of iPhone- and Android-less individuals wandering around in the woods. People who demand that NPR receive no more funds would have only corporate news outlets remain. And so shows that are incredibly rich and informative, like This American Life. RadioLab. All Things Considered. On Point. Wait wait don't tell me. Planet Money. Talk of the Nation. Fresh Air. would all go away. Great.
So, getting rid of NPR would lead to what? Corporate radio. And that's really what we want? I don't think so. Call 'em, write 'em, but ban public funding? Sounds like someone has an agenda...
And yeah, I'm unabashedly in favor of NPR and PBS, and I'm not ashamed to admit it:
In fact, for those who haven't seen it, I strongly suggest Frontline's "Inside the Meltdown":
http://www.pbs.org/wgbh/pages/frontline/meltdown/view/
More publicly-funded information about our increasingly plutocratic world is what's needed, not less...
I think we can clearly see that Andrew Breitbart & the Daily Caller actually hate something more than they hate OWS.
whew, I'm relieved
So sad
No more public funding! That is just what the 1% wants. NPR is acting paranoid because the Republicans in Congress want to defund it and they are afraid that will happen if the Republicans take over in 2012. We have to support NPR but insist in some backbone-- let them know if they stick by those the Right wants fired that mass demos will support them. You really don't want NPR off the air while Fox news is all over the place.
NPR needs to be funded with donations directly from the people, not by the government that's control by corporations.
that won't happen, the paid by wall st democrats need NPR to control the message, just like the right does with Fox. They can't allow to have an independent news source
Some of these reports don't make sense. If she's not their employee, how did they fire her? If what's going on is that they won't carry or broadcast programs or commentary from sources who also protest, anywhere at any time, has that been enforced against everyone? If so it must make for some pretty dull commentary...

NPR is one of the few journalistic entities in the media, most of the rest are just pundit factories, who "respect their host's opinions" to the detriment of all. That said, the Juan Williams situation was exaggerated and this does seem silly since she was an Opera host, a freelancer, and not a news reporter, so the clause in the code of ethics that pertains to participating in political rallies does seem irrelevant in this case. It seems to be more an issue of them overreacting to their public image, but I can understand that to a degree.
how many african american or hispanic hosts do they have working there?
I honestly have no idea, but if that's your complaint then feel free to demand that they hire more minorities. As long as there is no evidence to suggest that they discriminate in their hiring process or that they blatantly air racist comments, I don't really care what the color of the skin is of the voice I'm listening to on the radio.
Probably the same number as Fox News
exactly, so why do you support it?????
who said I did? You assume a lot, you and your right wing straw men.
sorry to tell you this, but the right is also part of the 99%.
That doesn't mean "spidey" isn't making straw man arguments.
So NPR fires an Occupy supporter and if you call them out on it you call it a straw man? nice to see Occupy supporters sticking for each other.
Follow the thread. You're wrong. I'm not recapping it for you, just read what I actually wrote, k?
