I keep reading that we need to get the money out of politics. I agree 100%. Hell, I just read that Romney will most likely be the GOP candidate for 2012, yet voters currently like Cain over Romney. They will pick him over Cain because Romney has gotten more money. I think that is wrong. I'm not for either one, but shouldn't they choose who the people want and not who the money wants. Anyway, I'm getting off my point. Money needs to get out of politics, but the media does too. Why aren't you fighting that point along with everything else. THe media is run by the government. There is no big news source that gives a fair sided news source. They all spin it in the direction of either the right or the left. Lets go back to where they report the news and not make the news or give their analysis of this, that or the other thing. I guess in some ways we need the money out of the media too!
The root of all the problems that OWS supporters are protesting about is based in CAMPAIGN REFORM. Individuals (not corporations, not PACs) should only be allowed to contribute and that contribution should be max'ed at 1% of the average median income in the US (~$5000). Politicians should no longer be bought by business!!! This national movement should be organizing a constitutional amendment vote by the states - bypassing congress - to enact this reform.
The problem with this 'fight' is that the media is in actuality an entertainment provider and a business who's intent, ultimately, is to profit.
If you want to fight this the only punches you can pull is with your attention and you dollar. Take biased political 'commentators'
My family has several journalists in it, namely my father. Reporting on super negative news is known as 'crime and grim' reporting. The for years his station has been running more 'equal' news, while a rival ran exclusively crime and grim. Over the past few years, my father's station's ratings have slipped and the rival station gained. Guess which station is doing crime and grim now? Both. Because it sells.
The POINT to that is the show the parallel with national media outlets. Personality driven, partisan biased political commentary sells. That's a fact. If you want actual news, actual journalistic integrity, then you need to put your wallet where your mouth is. Seek out ratings agencies and give them your opinion. Don't tune in. Advertising dollars drive the media.
See here we have trolls who are destroying any semblance of a good debate, please come to: http://www.themultitude.org/
We aggressively ban trolls, but real dissenters who have civil discussions are welcome.
Self righteous copy and paste spamming is still spamming. I like your website, but 'advertising' like this sin't going to win anyone over.
