Non-compete agreements state that you can be fired at any time for any reason since you're an at will employee. In addition, you can be fired and be deprived of making a living since you can not work in your industry for 2-3 years. It's up to the state governments to change this. I hope to hear from people who are in the same situation that I am. Hope you post on this.
Well, good luck.
Do you live in California? Non compete agreements (except in connection with the sale of a business) are unenforceable in CA.
No. Live in Albany, NY. In my 12th year of my non-compete. My company is headquartered in another state - Florida - and I have to hire a lawyer out there to fight it. 3 lawyers have told me that my non-compete is ironclad and can be enforced. They said this should be considered illegal and it's up to the state government to do something. I can be fired at any time for any reason since I'm an at will employee and I cannot work in my industry for 2 years if I'm fired.
