Here is what FDR said when they wealthy tried to make the same arguments then:

"Here is an amazing paradox! The very employers and politicians and publishers who talk most loudly of class antagonism and the destruction of the American system now undermine that system by this attempt to coerce the votes of the wage earners of this country. It is the 1936 version of the old threat to close down the factory or the office if a particular candidate does not win. It is an old strategy of tyrants to delude their victims into fighting their battles for them."

Sound familiar? The Fox news propaganda that the job creators will "just close up shop, if they are taxed more -- it won't be worth it." This is what the wealthy Republicans are now saying -- the age old tactic of the tyrant to get the worker to fight their fight for them! So, workers will fear losing their jobs if taxes are raised. Don't buy into the propaganda! FDR and America once stood up to the tyrants and so should we now!

Taxes on the wealthy are at the lowest in over 50 years. In the 1950's, the highest marginal tax was 90%, 1970's it was 70%, 1980's it was 49%, 1990's it was 39%, and 2000's it is 36%. Did businesses close up shop in the 1950's because marginal tax rates were 90%? Were the so-called job creators stifled from creating jobs? No, they were stifled from distributing all of the corporate profits to themselves!
