Some one at a protest had a no capitalism sign. When I asked the guy what he was talking about he looked a little defensive and said that he thinks that corporate capitalism is bad and that he thinks that we should not have it in our society. I asked him if he was against like small businesses and mama and papa businesses capitalists and services. He said no. So my question is why the hell would you carry a sign saying No Capitalism? Say what you mean No Corporate Capitalism.
Then there was another guy that had a sign that said get rid of the monetary system. You know I am sick of these people who want radical changes to our society like throwing out capitalism for something radical and most likely attempted already and failed. . Why don't you try to get the money out of government and see what happens first or try to get laws passed against corporate personhood. I guarantee that you will have a better time fighting for new legislation than trying to have a magical cashless free society where everyone is a winner and no one loses. It is BS utopian crap!!!
Getting the bribes out of government and eliminating corporate personhood are two of the ideas that are on the top of OWS' agenda. And I must agree with you about the "cashless society" utopia. Those folks, the zeitgeisters and their ilk, are, I think, a little uninformed when it comes to what it would actually take, and how long, to actually implement that concept, if it's even possible at all. Given what I think I know of human nature, I doubt it. I think that's what's missing from their model, the nature of the beast. Hard to fight DNA.
Here is an idea that IS practical, if people want to vote for Capitalism vs Corporate Capitalism, I think most people would come to an agreement:
