Forum Post: New method of money useage.

Instead of letting money separate us let's use it to bring us together. Those that choose the new method would contribute a portion of their money to a fund , that would be used to benefit all those in the group. All transactions would be transparent and available to all members. Would anyone like to build on this idea and let some of our money serve a different purpose than the one of separation.

Money is based on debt. Money itself indicates one individual or group 'owes' another for performing an activity. It is based on a paradigm of scarcity.

Money is unnecessary if people actually got along. If people wanted to monitor inventory, they could observe the quantity and movement of resources directly.

If we are to live in an ethical society, the need for money must be made obsolete. (create abundance)

Ok guys granted if money wasn't used it might make for a better world however I have never lived in such a world and don't think I will be any time soon. That said , starting where we are, with money and the problems it has caused for many what would be the best solution to bringing equity to those left behind in the monetary system. Just think if a small percentage of the 99% were to be willing to share and potentially benefit from a large sum of money they controlled just think of the power they could wheel in a positive direction, example they could have their own lobbyists to push thru legislation they wanted.

I don't want to give my money to anyone else. My uncle already does that in scientology.

I know it's a little off topic, but what if what we charged people for services was based on what the purchaser could afford? For instance, if a well-fed lawyer needs his lawn mowed, why not charge him/her $50.00 per hour? After all, this is still 1/5 or 1/10 of what many of them make on an hourly basis, so why couldn't they pay similar.

Conversely, a single mom/dad might get /her/his lawn work done for $5.00 per hour. Hardly covers the cost of gas in the mower, and granted, why would anyone want to mow the latter's lawn over the former's, but what if we just recognized that there was something bigger than money at stake? For instance, what if we recognized that energy was the true currency of the universe, and that money was simply a prop? Money may be needed, but it's not what keeps things 'rolling'.

Well, this may sound a little simpleminded, and admittedly, foolish. But I am willing to try it... In fact, I've been busy doing just this... I'm trying to start a new service, based on what I call "NSF" pricing; specifically, "no set fee" (ya, I like the play on the term NSF - non-sufficient funds - LOL).

In my case, I am offering a variety of services (everything from a moving truck and labour to cooking to construction). But the fee is determined by what the client can afford. If you can't afford anything, I still try to work with you (obviously, if you can't afford anything, you probably REALLY need some help), but in reciprocation for something other than money.

So far, the response has been slow, but the few people I've dealt with over the last week or so have been very grateful AND generous (in their own rights). People are really surprised by my sincerity and commitment, and I think they, themselves, may even consider "passing it forward" (but that's up to them).

The truth is, I'm making a few bucks (props that, for the immediate future, keep my family warm in this Canadian town) AND I'm making people happy - who, in turn, make me happy. Look at me ma, I'm getting RICH!!!

For a second there visions of using it as toilet paper in favor of a barter based economy came to mind..

genanmer who posted earlier here is right about money being based on debt and for posting that 'Money is unnecessary if people actually got along. If people wanted to monitor inventory, they could observe the quantity and movement of resources directly.

If we are to live in an ethical society, the need for money must be made obsolete. (create abundance)'
